Guest guest
THE PLATINUM YEARS Tuesday, 20 May 2008 Not only I am I getting older but it means a lot of the people I know are getting older, too. And that's a good thing. Hey, it's better than the alternative, isn't it? Every morning our eyes pop open, it means we have another beautiful day to live.I started my television career when I was only in my 20's and soon I will be starting my 60's. The people I've known over all of these years are right up there with me and, you know what? Many of them are still fighting the battle of the bulge. So many of the people I talk to now are retired. They've worked a whole lot of years. And now they are living with the luxury of not having to go to their full-time jobs everyday. And now is the time for all of you retirees who don't have to punch a time clock anymore to spend these great years taking better care of yourselves. So many people have told me that they don't have time to eat healthy and exercise. They say that all they had time to do, really... was work. But for those of you who are retired, guess what? You do have the time now! If you have not lost weight in the past, because of "lack of time," looks like you can't use that as a reason not to lose this weight anymore! So you should plan the use of your time more carefully now. I mean, don't you want to live to be a hundred, like I plan to do? Now that you're retired and have more time on your hands, please, use that time to your best advantage. Now you can really start to work out like you never worked out before. There are so many wonderful, healthy activities you have time do for your bodies these days. There's walking, there's hiking, there's cardio, there's toning, all at your fingertips. And now that you have more time on your hands, you can truly work out every single day And as far as your eating goes, you have extra time to make your grocery lists, plan your meals and get into that kitchen and prepare some really healthy meals for yourself. I'm sorry to say that a lot of people, after they retire, add an extra, uh, "tire" around their middles. Hey, that's not what re-tire-ment should be about! Instead, the older we get, the better we should work to take good care of ourselves. For years now, I have visited Senior retirement communities all over the United States. And I've taught exercise classes with all of these Silver Foxes and they just loved them. As I watched them sweating and toning, I could see that they were simply having a ball doing it. So if you now have extra time on your hands since you've retired, use that time wisely and get started now taking better care of yourself, inside and out!Love,
