Guest guest
WHAT IS HE EATING? Wednesday February 6, 2008 There were so many years in my life where I could just walk into any restaurant to order and eat whatever I wanted. Sometimes, I'd order two or three appetizers. Oh, I just love orderves, don't you? Sometimes I'd order two entrees and sometimes three desserts. But that all changed, dramatically, when I began my career on General Hospital. After that, no matter where I went, people would tell me how much they loved me on GH. They would ask me about all of the characters on the show. And I would tell them about the wonderful group of people who made up the cast.I remember once when a few of us went out for lunch during a break while taping an episode. There was a great Mexican restaurant near the studio called Lucy's Adobe. We all decided to have lunch there to review our scripts together as we chowed down on lunch! As everyone else at the table ordered, the waitress said to me...I'm sure you'll just want me to bring you just a salad, right ? Because I know you don't eat all these kinds of fattening foods. I want you to know that I watch General Hospital everyday and you have really inspired me to lose weight.Well, especially after that little speech, I guess I wasn't going to be having the Fiesta platter! Which, by the way, would have included tacos, enchiladas, tamales and guacamole. I had a salad and had the kitchen top it with some beans. No matter where I went out to eat, someone always whispered to their waiter something like, What is eating. I think I'll have the same.So as the years have gone by, I don't eat out much anymore. It's just gotten to be too tough. I guess people forget that I'm only human, just like them. Hey, I love eating out! I love the whole experience of dining out with people. I love trying different foods and ordering a bunch of dishes for the table so that everyone gets a little taste of everything. But, I'm telling you, it's tough being stared at and pointed at so I just stay home and cook my own meals there. Even when I go on my Cruise To Lose, everyone is saying, Oh , you can't have dessert. Or, You can't have Lobster Thermador because you're !Well remember, long before I was , I was little Milton T. , the kid who couldn't wait for his next meal! And, surprise! I still love all of the fattening foods I was raised on as a kid in New Orleans. I've got a little recipe box on file in my head and it's filled with all of the recipes that my Mom and Dad taught me to make.Truth is, when I want a little piece of cake...I have it, usually on a Saturday night. And if I want to make myself a little Lobster Thermador, I do. And when I do indulge a bit, I have my FoodMover windows all set to make my little splurge "legal."I was in an airport recently and there was a lady eating a slice of pizza sitting next to me waiting for our flight to leave. It was kinda late at night and there were very few people in the airport. She looked at me and said to me: No one's looking, have a bite! And you know what? I had a bite, too. She promised never to tell. So, you see? I'm no different from you. Would you offer me a bite of your slice of pizza?Love,
