Guest guest
Last week I spoke with the claims department with our insurance company every day. Someone from their office(s) called every day ... maybe skipping one out of the entire week. I told the story a zillion times. Each time I was asked to repeat the story, I was told the person on the phone WAS NOT the Adjustor that would be handling the claim, but rather someone assigned to collect info FOR the Adjustor who would handle the claim. The reasoning was ... I could tell it to him/her and NOT have to repeat the entire story to the Adjustor who was here, locally. So ... this morning, I woke up to a message on my voicemail from the " local " adjustor. He DENIED the claim (no surprise) and his explanation was that he had just inspected our apartment with the Assistant Property Manager (this is the girl who LIED LIED LIED in court on several occasions) and that there was no evidence of any type of mold or mold contamination. He stated that in order to have coverage, there had to suffer a loss due to rain, hail, snow, wind, vehicles, airplanes, OR from a discharge from the plumbing or appliance. PLEASE NOTE: I have posted photos of our " Garden of Stachy " in the group photos. Please notice the " river of stachy " directly in front of the dishwasher. Also, the water line to the ice-maker in the freezer runs directly behind the cabinets and oven/stove. There is also a ton of stachy on that side. He also stated that we had not put any work orders in to have any repairs over the past 2 months. LIE LIE LIE Get this ... He said " I walked the entire apartment and didn't see any MOLD SPORES " ... What? Had I known he had super-sonic micro-scopic xray vision, I wouldn't have paid thousands to have the apartment tested. I would've just called him! (Sorry ... just needed to vent) So ... then, he said that we were also in the wrong for waiting unitl last week to file a claim if the damage occurred on July 1 (not sure where he got that date ... although, that is around the time we physically went to the leasing office and took the Asst. Mngr. back up with us after 6 weeks of " someone will be up tomorrow " promises. I spoke with this man later this afternoon. He said to me again, that he looked everywhere but didn't see any MOLD SPORES. I asked him how he could possible see a mold spore, since they were microscopic ... and he of course, had no response. He went on to tell me that the apartment " said this and said that " ... and that they claimed there was no mold, no damage, no nothing. Supposedly, we were just trying to not pay the rent (since we withheld the rent until someone would come up and fix other things making the apartment uninhabitable and to check and see if the mold ... was mold) ... Anyways ... I told him we'd tried and tried to get the maintenance people up for going on 6 weeks ... he asked if we had proof ... I said yes ... he said he'd need to see the proof because he was getting 2 completely different stories, 1 from us and 1 from the apartment management. I THOUGHT WE PAID THESE PEOPLE TO WORK FOR US ... Since when does an insurance company NOT get the info from their client, but rather take the word of an apartment managment co. that EVICTED a family with children for wanting to transfer AWAY from Toxic mold? At the end of the coversation, this man told me I would need to get him all of the " proof " I have of everything I say ... which, of course, I've offered and have been waiting for someone to tell me where to send it. I just wonder if I should let our attorney handle this matter (with the insurance co.) right from the start. By what this man was saying ... about the damage having to be done from a discharge from the plumbing or an appliance ... wouldn't this be covered? Its clear that the mold was getting its moisture from the dishwasher and / or ice-maker water line. The apartment ofc. had sent a General Contractor up (while we were asleep one day ... how nice) who looked at the floor and said " there must be a leak " ... but did nothing about it. Nobody would do anything about it. The maintenance supervisor barely looked at it and said " ahh ... that's just glue " and left. Who knows. I apologize for the CAPITAL LETTERS and hostile tone. I have never seen anything like this before in my life ... where everyone tries their hardest to cover up something so destructive ... rather than get it taken care of and stop the rapid spread. How do these people sleep at night? Thank you all, for your replies, advice and kind words. Again, I apologize for venting. Thanks for listening. __________________________________________________
