WHO'S THE BOSS?

From the time we're born, we are nourished. It begins with a little sugar-water in our baby bottles, then milk and from there, well...everything!We were all raised in a home with a kitchen. And for many of us, the kitchen was the meeting place for our families. As you got older, with all of your senses in tact, you were able to touch the food, smell the food and, of course...taste the food!Now there were many kids who didn't buy into the whole food thing. Even though food was pushed their way, it never became a real priority in their lives. Yes, there was them and then there was us! US being the people who really bought into the whole food thing!Oh, you know how it goes. From the time we get up in the morning to the time we go to bed at night, food is on our minds, it seems...all the time! At breakfast, we're thinking about what we're going to have for lunch. And at lunch, we're thinking about what's for dinner. In some ways, many of us allow our lives to be ruled by food.It's as if food becomes our leader, almost Godlike to us! People write me all the time and tell me how thoughts of food occupy their minds 24/7. No matter where they are, whether it's sitting in their cars, standing in line at the bank, or picking up their dry-cleaning, those thoughts of food are right there with them.And many of us blame those food thoughts for why the numbers on our scales aren't moving...down, anyway! Well, I've gotta ask you something here: Who's the boss? YOU or the FOOD? I mean, does the food go out, get a job and support you? No! Of course not...it's the other way around! If you let food boss you, we both already know that you will not be happy with the results. What you'll be is fat! That's right...f-a-t! If you think about food all the time and give in to those thoughts of temptation, you'll gain 5 pounds, 10, 50, a hundred pounds...more? Come on now, everybody, sounds like you might just need some boss lessons!If you want to get the weight off, you've got to be in charge. You have to fill your mind with other thoughts besides Quiche Lorraine! You have to keep in your head positive thoughts about what you need to be doing to take good care of yourself.Yes, it takes some practice, learning to say no to those thoughts of food. But, keep practicing and, before you know it, you'll be saying yes to your health. Start showing that food...who's the boss in your life, today!Love,From Your Bossy Friend,
