Guest guest
My feeling is MM, while a tout for EAS, is a good source for this program and for some close to neutral advice on supplements. The exercises programs are good and effective and the main reason I buy is the recipe section, nearly always good. Compared to the Weider pubs, its much less advertising and doesn't try to use sex as a sales tool (not that thats a bad thing, the great glutes issues are a favorite). Its not a 4 X 4 mag, but it is different than any others in its class. Jeff --- Brett <bdavis@...> wrote: > So is MM a good mag? Guest guest
Agreed! Check out the photo of Beth Horn on page 136c of the latest Muscle and Fitness (June 2001). What an inspiration! I would post the picture but it is big! Guest guest
I personally love MM. Yes, it does slightly push EAS products but it is all about BFL. With other muscle mag, some of their suggestions don't always fit into BFL but with MM everything does. I think the recipes are good and so are the questions and answers by experts. I would recommend it and just personally ordered a subscription. :-) Cristi c2w1d4

Guest guest
My impression is that is pretty much a big ad for BFL and I think that is a good thing. Andyman > I personally love MM. Guest guest
The muscle media is good, but I think it had alot of advertisements the last time I looked. I like Muscle Fitness for women the best. Then Shape second. Muscle Fitness seems to be more geared to what we are doing...thats my 2 cents > Hi All! > I have never gotten muscle media magazine. Guest guest
Check out Muscle & Fitness Hers and FitnessRx. FitnessRx is loaded with the latest training, nutrition, and supplement research and always cites studies. Muscle & Fitness Hers is very similar to Oxygen. http://muscleandfitnesshers.com/hers.html http://www.fitnessrxmag.com/ magazines Ok, what are your favorite fitness magazines? So far, I have liked Energy and Oxygen enough to subscribe to them. I tried a few others and they were just a bunch of makeup stuff with 'fitness' models who were 5' 5 " and 103lb. 103 lbs! That's nuts. I want to see real fit women like Laurie Vaniman who is 5' 5 " and 130 lbs. :-) -Shaun

Guest guest
Muscle Media was discontinued. Oxygen is another good magazine. It is geared primarily toward figure and fitness but there are great articles and advice on food and exercise. Stasia
Guest guest
I've been reading Weight Watcher's magazine off and on for a number of years, but it's usually the same old stuff, month after month. Back in the 1970's and 1980's, Prevention had many good weight loss articles, but with each new owner they've changed their focus. Shape, Women's Health, and a few of the other fitness-type magazines are geared more towards athletic and below-healthy BMI types. Does anyone know of a weight loss magazine, or even a newsletter, that's *realistic* for people our size? The last one I know of was ' old newsletter, which stopped back in the early 2000's but many of the articles are in our Files section. Something like that would be perfect. I feel about the same as you regarding magazines lately Sue. I plan to let my subscriptions all run out and take a breather from them for a bit. I like the one for women over the 40s: "More" I think it is called?? I don't know how realistic it is though LOL, haven't looked at one for several months... in WAGet trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food. Guest guest
> I like the one for women over the 40s: " More " I think it is called?? I looked at that one on the stands a few times and never found anything of interest and kept putting it back. I once had a subscription to Bitch, a magazine that was pretty interesting. I wonder why I let that one lapse? Let me go through some of these piles here and see if I can find the last issue I had to see if there was anything wrong with it. If not, I may sign up with that one again. I had gotten really aggravated with Weight Watchers when I saw an article on this one woman who had cancer, was undergoing treatment at the time, IIRC, and she was still being encouraged by the author to loose weight. WTF?!?!? When my dad and stepmom were both being treated for their various cancers over the years, the LAST thing their doctor wanted them to do was lose weight, even though my stepmom was on the chunky side and my dad had the old-man pot belly from too much ice cream in the past. The doc told them both that if they see *any* weight loss on the scale to call him immediately because that means something is wrong. Little did I know that nowadays doctors *are* encouraging weight loss for their heavy cancer patients. I doubt it's the oncologists doing it, just primary care docs, but I've read about it happening on way too many mailing lists and message boards for the WW advise to be an isolated incident, so there was no reason for me to be mad at the magazine, just the world in general. Next time I see a special offer from them I'll probably subscribe again. In the meantime, reading all these lists and blogs is keeping me busy enough with weight loss motivation.
