I WAS WONDERING...

Monday, 12 May 2008

Well, everyone who came on the Cruise To Lose with me will have been home for a week and a day today. And well, I was wondering how they're doing since they're all back in their own territory.Hundreds of our Clubhouse members took our Cyber Cruise and I was wondering how they're all doing now, too. And I know lots of people visit my site everyday to read my messages. And I wonder how you all are doing. So...how are ya' all?

Oh, there was lots of dancing and laughing on the cruise but I gave everyone a lot of motivation to take home with them. On the cruise, we talked about another reason that people overeat. And that reason is self-punishment.Maybe you came from a very strict family. Maybe you had to live life perfectly to make your parents happy. Maybe they were verbally abusive with you in some way. Or maybe you were even punished when you didn't please them.

Or maybe you had a teacher in school who punished you when you didn't do things just oh-so-right. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that we don't forget any of our punishments from when we were growing up.Oh yes, they're still right there in our minds whenever we get into a bad or negative mood. And because other people have punished us, we believe we deserve to be punished. And the worse part is that we often begin to punish ourselves!

And how do we punish ourselves? Well, we do it by being self-destructive, overeating or even bingeing. It may begin like this:"I've had such a stressful day. It seems my boss punishes me by giving me more and more work to do. That's okay though. Hey, I'm used to being punished. All those people who punished me in the past were right. I'm just no good!"And when you talk to yourself that way, you may soon find yourself eating a pizza or an In-And-Out burger. As those negative thoughts keep dominating your thoughts, you just keep eating and eating, too. You eat sometimes until you make yourself just about sick!

So, do you do this to yourself? Come on now! You've got to stop this and I mean right away! There's no need to punish yourself. You've done nothing to deserve treating yourself this way. You have to forgive those people who've punished you in the past and let those bad thoughts leave your mind. And when you do, you'll begin to reward yourself for all of the positive things you're doing for you! So which do you want for yourself, huh? Reward or punishment? Think about that today. And if you have not been on program since our cruise, please start today and work hard top make this a very successful week for you!Love,
