ThursdayJanuary 17, 2008PROFESSIONAL WORRIER

Last Christmas, I had the perfect gift for many of my friends. And I`m thinking, it may been perfect for many of you, too. I got them online and they came from a far, far away country. What are they? Well, I`m talking about worry beads. Ever heard of them?

They look like little ries but are not quite as large. They`re on pieces of string and each string is lined with the little worry beads. You hold them in your hand and they are supposed to help you deal with your worries.

See, whenever you`re tempted to worry about something, you put the worry beads in your hand and rub, concentrating on one of the beads. When you finish that worry, if there`s something else worrying you, then you move on and rub another one of the beads, as you work to eliminate another worry. Get it?

We all know, the world is just full of stuff for us to worry about. And, likewise, the world is just as full of professional worriers, too. That means millions of us sit around and worry, worry, worry about what our futures hold. You know how those worries go...

I`m so worried something bad is going to happen for me at today`s meeting at work.

I just know I'm going to get sick some day and have to take a bunch of medications.

I`m not so steady on my feet anymore and always afraid I`m going to fall and hurt myself when I go out somewhere.

I worry about my kids. They`re not doing so well in school these days.

I planted some flowers in my yard and something tells me they aren`t going to do so well and will probably die.

I`m so worried I`ll never lose this weight. I`ve been trying for so long and nothing has ever worked for me. I`m only going to get fatter and fatter!

Wow, that`s a lot to worry about, isn`t it? You know where "worry warts" come from, don`t you? You worry too much and one of those little brown bumps pop up on your face!

Oh yes, in my life and in yours, there are plenty of things for us to worry about. But the truth is, just worrying about something doesn`t fix whatever it is you`re worrying about, does it? You have to work at fixing the problem. And once you`ve fixed it, hey...you can stop worrying!

Most people who write me are very definitely worried about their health. Whether they`re in their 20`s, 40`s or even their 70`s, they worry. They worry they`re going to get sick, be required to take medication to live or worried they will lose their mobility someday and end up in a nursing home, or worse! And, to tell you the truth, many of the people who write me should be worried about some of these things. If they don`t work to lose weight, that is.

If you`re worried about your health and your weight, there`s really only one person standing in the way of improving your health and your life. And you know who that person is, don`t you? Well, it`s you, of course!

Every time you fix a worry, your self-confidence grows. With that, every time you fix one worry, your growing confidence makes you strong enough to fix another worry...and another!

Now you can`t fix all of your worries but, I`m telling you, with more self-confidence and determination, you`ll discover that you can fix the majority of them! And once you get enough of those worries beneath you and under the bridge, that little worry wart will slowly disappear from your face.

What, you worry? Not anymore! And now, with the worry and the worry warts gone...

Look at what a beauty you are!

Love,
