TWO-WAY STREET

Wednesday, 07 May 2008

I'm still thinking about the Cruise To Lose. I haven't shared a lot of my post-cruise thoughts with you yet. I guess I've been a little selfish with them. But I want to share some of those thoughts with you today, if I may, on this 7th day of May!

I'll begin by telling you that about 60% of the people who come on my cruises each year have been on previous cruises with me. Many of them came on this year's cruise a little thinner than they were last year. And I have to say that very few of them came on this cruise at their goal weights. Now I know a lot of my cruisers quite well because many of them have been cruising with me since my very first Cruise To Lose way back in the 80's! Some of them look exactly as they did when I first met them, oh...give or take a few pounds. But they come back, year-after-year and I'm always so very glad to see them again and again.

And why do they keep coming back? Well, they keep coming back because they know I will never give up on them, that's why! Hey, I'll always be here as their cheerleader. I'll always be here to boost their enthusiasm. I'll always be here to remind them of how much I believe in them. And I'll always be here to tell them that they've got to try again and with more conviction next time. When I point out these facts to them, I always see a sad face turn into a happy one. Like I said before, I never have and I never will give up on them! But you wanna know something? Never giving up is a two-way street because in my case, my friends have never given up on me, either! As I sat signing autographs on the ship, people would look me in the eyes and say to me, "You were so right, ! All the stuff you've taught me about eating healthy, regular exercise and staying positive is so very true. I've heard a lot of other messages out there about how to lose weight but none of those messages ring as true as yours! And that's why I keep coming back on the cruises with you each year. Because I know that one day, I'm going to catch all of the positive balls you've thrown my way!"

And oh, their words make me feel so good and secure about their futures. In fact, their words help to boost my own enthusiasm. I have to be honest with you. See, sometimes I don't feel like I'm doing enough to help them. Some days, I'll sit at my desk wondering what else I can do to get my friends motivated. When someone gains weight or can't stay on program, I take it very personally. I think it's my fault that they're not losing the weight or that they've gain some weight back. But the people I have those thoughts about tell me that it just isn't so. When I hear those comments from them, telling me they think I am doing a good job helping them, well, it's a truly good feeling for me, honestly. So let's make a deal on this beautiful Wednesday, shall we? I promise, I will never give up on you. And I hope and pray that you will never give up on me or on my dreams for you either. Deal? Remember now, it's a...Two-Way Street!Love,
