I meant to wish you all a Happy Summer yesterday because that was the day it actually started. (Depending on which calendar you believe.) But regardless, I just got so excited yesterday, telling you about our 2009 Cruise To Lose, I didn't get around to mentioning the start of this hot new season!

Oh, summer! The weather is just so beautiful everywhere. It may be warm out but look around you. Flowers are popping out, the trees are filled with leaves and all of the earth's animals are busy basking in the summer sunlight.

What I notice most about summer are the colors. It's as if the whole country has been cleaned off and looks so shiny and bright. And I want you to be shiny and bright looking too. Put away all of your black and blue clothes and those dark brown ones. You need to turn yourself into a "summer person!"What does your hair look like? Does it say "summer" or does it say a "gray day in Seattle in January?" Come on, do something nice for your hair. Style it differently, try a new color or squeeze some lemon juice in it to give yourself a few dazzling streaks. Wear it up or either in a ponytail or pigtails.

And as far as your clothes, go white and bright or go with some pretty pastels. Try some new styles. All the stores are having their big summer sales right now so check 'em out for some fun new summer outfits. Get some cotton outfits that will feel cool on you skin.

Now because it's going to be hot out there, you need to invest in a good facial and body moisturizer. And make sure the ones you choose have sunscreen in them. You know that too much sun is bad for your skin so I want you to be extra careful out there!How about some new sandals, something cute, fun and funky? And paint those nails in happy colors so that your feet look like summer in those new sandals too.

Summer says, "Hi! I'm the young and youthful time of the year! And I want you to blossom just like all of the hibiscus, hydrangea and other flowers of my season!"When you walk out your door, you should feel like a ball of sunshine waiting to experience a brand new sunny day. I'm still on the road here in Charlotte, North Carolina. And it's going to be a hot but pretty day here.
