Guest guest
FRITO Wednesday, 26 March 2008 Last Sunday, on the Easter edition of my radio show, I had three hours packed with lots of success stories. They were all people who have not only lost lots of weight but who have kept it off. Oh, their stories were so incredible. And I know that my listeners got a lot out of that show because they wrote and told me so.I asked each of my show's guests on Sunday to tell me how they got started. That way, I hoped to motivate my listeners who have not gotten started themselves. Each of them talked about how important exercise was to their winning the weight-loss fight. They told me how many miles they walk or how many days a week they're toning now to maintain their weight losses. Of course, we also got around to talking about their eating habits. That's right, we just had to talk about food and the way they used to eat. They were all so very specific in their answers. They rattled off their favorite foods of the past like they were saying little prayers! And as I listened to each of their stories, there was a common thread that ran through each of them. And that thread was that they all used to love to eat "frito" food, that is...fried foods! Hey, I understand!Oh, yes. See, I was raised on fried foods and I know many of you were, too. And you get so used to that taste of grease, right? How do we describe it? "Yummy, delicious, unbelievably good?" Yeah, all of those descriptions work, don't they?I can't tell you how many fried shrimp I have bitten into. Or how many fried hamburgers I downed in my worse days. And let's not even talk about how many French fries I had with those burgers! Let's just say that I kept those potato farmers in Idaho very busy! I would say that we had some kind of fried food or another at every meal when I was growing up. No, seriously, there was a can of bacon grease that had a permanent home on our stove to make sure everything tasted good and greasy! I talked to a man on my show named who used to weigh close to 500 pounds. But he has turned his life around and since he started, has lost over 200 pounds so far!I asked him about what he ate when he was at his highest weight and 's answer went something like this:", I might start off with four chicken-biscuits in the morning. And of course that wasn't baked chicken tucked inside those biscuits...it was fried. Later in the day, I would eat the same number of hamburgers and it was not uncommon to end the day with a plate-full of more fried chicken!"(After 's confession, I must admit that my own mouth was watering for just one little piece of fried chicken!) But on the day he chose to change his life, also chose to say good-bye to all of those fried foods. All of them. He told himself that he wasn't going to have a taste of anything fried, not anymore.Today, tells me that he doesn't even miss all of that fried stuff. In fact, his tastebuds have adapted to a new, healthier way of eating. And those new healthier foods are contributing to his new, healthier life, too! I know a lot of you are still eating fried foods. But you have got to pull your eating habit reigns tight and say no to all of that fried stuff, just like did. Think about it, we've got fat people eating fat to get even more fat. (Sounds pretty awful, doesn't it?) Well, you know what I want you to do? I want you to try for the next two weeks to have no fried foods. That's right. None...zero! You are not allowed to use your fat portions on greasy fried foods for yourself. Can you do this? Can you clean out your body in the next two weeks of all that fatty stuff that may be floating around inside you? I think you can do it. (In fact, I know you can!) And when you do...when you substitute healthier choices for all of that fried stuff, you will see a weight-loss this month. And by the way, how are you doing this month? Remember our Five-Pounds-A-Month Weight Loss Challenge is still going on here in 2008! So no more FRITO for you over the next two weeks!
