Weigh-in - could go either way

I'm taking the bus to WW today, as my sister went camping for the weekend with some friends and another sister (there are 4 of us!). When we don't ride together, it's terribly tempting to skip it, and I did when she was in Ireland, but that was so we could "meet up" over the webcam.

It could go either way this morning. Yesterday, we had a block party in our neighborhood, and it turned out to be so much bigger than I expected! Burgers and dogs were provided, but the rest was potluck. We took some of my freshly made salsa (0 points and locally famous) and tortilla chips, a bag of baked chix wings, celery sticks and sorta ranch dressing.

It was huge. Someone had music (oldies from the 70s and 80s) and amps/speakers, etc. It was very well-organized, with bins for trash, recycling, drinks for kids including juice boxes and bags, not just soda) and adults, and the food was underneath a canopy with netting, to keep out the bugs. Before we got there, there was a table for face-painting, and lots of kids had flags, fireworks or stars drawn on rosy cheeks. There were two inflatable play areas, a castle and a slide. There were dozens of supersoakers and a large wading pool to keep them loaded. There were picnic tables set up and many people brought their own foldable chairs. They thought of everything. I was quite impressed with one of our neighbors whom I didn't know very well, but my daughter has babysat for them and they love her. He spent the entire time with a baby in a swaddled/wrap around his torso. I imagine this is so his wife could relax and enjoy herself for a while, but he never mentioned. It was just assumed that he would spend some time taking care of the baby.

The food was typical picnic fare but I didn't do too badly. Many of this stuff is high sodium though so that could be bad. HOWEVER, DH, DD and I spent a couple hours moving dirt in the back yard earlier in the day. The excavator pretty much dumped the trench soil wherever he wanted so we were digging out the compost bin, the corners, the concrete in front of garage. So, maybe I burned some off?

Since we are STILL without gas (5 nights and counting), we all traipsed over to my sister's house, fed the cat and took warm showers. After 5 days of cold washcloths or quick jumps into a cold shower and "Wet Ones", this felt really really good.

Well, I need to collect my gear for the bus. I'm meeting Mom afterwards for breakfast and to give her some vintage stuff I found during decluttering. Wish me luck.
