PURPOSE

Monday, 05 May 2008

I got up early this morning and looked through all of the photographs that Carnival Cruise Lines gives me as a present before I leave the ship.

See, all week long, Carnival provides a photographer for our group and he must have snapped somewhere between 10-15,000 photos this week of our group. I'm serious! He took photos of us during our Rise & Shine and Sweatin' classes. He took pictures of our parties and seminars. He was there to photograph us all dolled-up on both our formal nights. And you never knew when he might be hiding around a corner to get a candid snapshot of me with some members of our gang.I never go to the ship's photo gallery. (It's a section of the ship where you can see all of the photos the photographer has taken all week.) I don't go there because I don't want to see thousands of pictures of me staring right back at me! So I look forward to getting my little photos gift package from Carnival. They are so much fun to look at and bring back so many memories.

May I tell you something? I am so happy that I found my purpose in life at a very early age. And my purpose was simple. I wanted to make people laugh and I also wanted to help them. That's it. I mean it. I aspired for nothing else. And I kept believing in my purpose. I kept feeding it with positive energy and hard work. There were many people on the cruise who told me how much they admired me for my purpose. They could tell how much I love what I do. And many of them told me they thought I was pretty cute, too. LOL.

So many people asked me how to find their own purpose. And here's what I told them: First, you have to sit down and figure out what your purpose is. Oh I know, others may have directed you to a specific vocation but the question is, did your own heart direct you to it? I'm telling you, there is no purpose without a passion for something you believe you do well. It's something you have to want to do, for the rest of your life. There are surface careers and then there are purpose careers. Which would you prefer?

Many people sail through decades of working the same job, feeling unmotivated and uninspired. And then they get a "pension for their tension." And I don't think that's the way you want to live or should want to live your life.I think you've got to get up in the morning happy and excited about doing the work you want to do. And when you get to work, you've got to do your best to get the job done.

After your day's work, you should come home and rehash the day in your mind and think about how good you did today. For each positive day you have of your career, you fuel your passion for it more.So I want you to sit down and make a list of the things you feel you're good at. And start doing some research to help you find your purpose. And I have to tell you that every one of us was given a purpose. And your own purpose is hiding somewhere in your soul.So search for your purpose and...make it happen!Love,
