THE SIXTH MONTH OF SWEAT!

Thursday, 05 June 2008

Earlier this week, I had a live and unplugged chat in my auditorium for our Clubhouse members. Are you a Clubhouse member yet? Hey, do you need motivation? Yeah? Well, my Clubhouse is the place for you to get it!

Anyway, we had a great conversation in Monday night's chat. We talked about exercise. Now that it's getting warmer. People will be complaining that they can't take their walks anymore because of the heat. Oh, the heat, it's the #1 excuse for not working out during the summer. But you know, you can walk earlier in the morning before the sun really heats up the day. Or you can walk in the early evening with a partner as the afternoon temps began to go down. You can go to a mall for a mall-walk in a totally climate-controlled environment. Or how's about taking in a visit to a local museum for a whole lotta walking. Come on, you know there are so many places you can walk inside and beat the summer heat. The bottom line is that you cannot use excuses of any kind to not exercise this month.

We still have our Five-Pounds-A-Month Weight-Loss Challenge going on, you know. And if you want to lose five pounds this month, you have to move that body of yours. I'm talking moving your body up, down and all around...just like I do!

When the weather gets warm, you can exercise at home. I know you have lots of DVDs for sweatin', toning and for stretching. Remember to keep the air circulating while you are exercising. Just don't exercise in a cold room. Many of you belong to a gym. So take advantage during these hotter months and head to that gym for your workouts. Some of you even have gyms in your homes. You may have a treadmill or an elliptical machine. Or maybe you have a stationary bike. If you do...use them!I challenged everyone in my chat last Monday to add 15 minutes to their daily workouts. I mean, it's just 15 minutes. But 15 minutes X 7 days a week equals 1:45 minutes of extra exercise in a week! And don't say you can't do it because I know you can! Unless, of course, you're just starting out. If that's the case, you know I like for you to begin your new exercise routine slowly and safely.

Okay, there're going to be lots of food temptations here in June. Oh yes, there'll be picnics, barbecues, snacks on the beach and all of those little ice cream and snowball places that pop up everywhere. And this time of year, people tend to drink more sodas and diet sodas thinking those beverages will help keep them cool. But hey, all of those sodas, diet or otherwise, are not so "cool" to me! Today is the 5th of June. So, did you exercise everyday so far this month? No? Then, beginning today, I want you to make that commitment to exercise everyday for the rest of this month.Well, I've gotta go exercise now. And I'll be thinking of you all as I do my hundreds of leg-lifts. How many leg-lists will you do today?Love,
