Guest guest
BODY IMAGE Tuesday, 22 July 2008 Last night, in between my bouts of packing for my trip to Washington today, I'd stop to read some of my E-mail. And you know what I noticed that was more than a little distressing? Well, it's that there are so many people who write telling me how much they hate their bodies! Oh, they say things like this... ", I never look at my body, it's just so disgusting." "I don't even let my husband see me naked anymore. I don't want to shock him or embarrass myself!""I don't have any full-length mirrors in my house. My mirrors are big enough to let me see my head and only as far down as my shoulders. That's all I want to see of my body!"Now isn't this a shame? There are millions of Americans who don't look below their necks in the mirror. Are you one of them? Hmmm, do you know why I think so many people feel this way? Well, I think it's a combination of denial and fear. Now please, don't you be that way! The truth is that before you embark on a successful weight-loss program, you have to look at your body, all of it, so that you have a starting point in your mind. No, you're not going to like all of the areas of your body that you see. But as you look, at least be honest. I mean, you know how your body got to be this way in the first place, don't you? Hey, fat looks so nice on a piece of fried chicken but it doesn't look so pretty when it's on your upper arms, does it? So once you face the mirror, then you have to visualize how your body is going to look when you lose weight by eating healthy and exercising regularly. This begins the process of reshaping your body. You go into museums all over the country and see the most magnificent paintings. Many of them are of men and women scantily clothed or even in the nude. You observe the beauty of their faces and usually, their bodies are very beautiful, too. And you know what? Despite what you weigh...so is yours!Let me remind you that you are the highest form of life, the last of the living things God created. I want you to realize how unique and special that body the Lord gave you is. Your body really is a miracle, you know. I mean, from the blood flowing through your veins to the organs in your body all working in harmony. Oh, what a wonder your body is. And as you appreciate the miracle that is your body, you should want to take better care of this special gift God has given you. So please, don't ever say you "hate" your body. Everyday you should wake up and say to yourself...I love my body and that's why I'm going to take the best care I can of it, today and everyday!Okay, I've finished my body talk...Love,
