Guest guest
DAVE & ME! Thursday, 31 July 2008 Well, tomorrow night, I'm on the Letterman Show. And oh, I know, I know. I know what you're saying to yourselves:", why do you even do his show? Letterman drives you so crazy!" And like I said, I know how you feel. But I've been doing Dave's show for 25 years now. See, I began doing his show when he was at the NBC studios long before he moved to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City. I was so nervous as I prepared to do his show for the very first time. And even back then, I said to myself. "This man is so mean to me!" But you know...there's a thin line between love and hate! One of the first people I met on the Letterman show was a young lady named Pope. worked with the show's writers back in those days and I always enjoyed the time I spent with her.Later, was promoted to producer and she has produced all of my segments on Dave's show over the years. And now today, is the show's Executive Producer and I am so proud for her. I've gotta tell you, no one can do it better than her! Before I do each show, I have a talk with to discuss what I need to talk about during my segment. I'm still nervous when I walk into the building but once I see , I get very comfortable and know that everything is going to be fine.Tomorrow night, I'll be on Dave's show again. I taped the show a few days ago and boy, did we ever have a good time! On tomorrow night's show, you'll see...boy, did I ever make an entrance! In New York City, there are these bicyclist who have these little benches connected to the back of their bicycles, sort of like the rickshaws you'd see in China. The NYC tourists love 'em! Well, there I was sitting down, as this nice man from Lithuania peddles down the street on one of those bikes. And as the camera follows him, lo and behold, he peddles into the Ed Sullivan Theater and right onto Dave's set. It was such fun! And then I popped out of my seat and on camera. There I was, standing there in a tank-top made with over 400 red feathers on it! Oh, did the audience ever just love it! After Dave made his comments about my outfit, (you'll hear 'em tomorrow nigh), then we sat down for our talk.We talked a little bit about my trip to Washington last week and about my having just turned 60 this month. Dave is 61, by the way, so now the two of us are in the same age group.I'm not gonna tell you everything so if you have time, tune into Dave's show tomorrow night and, I promise, you'll have more than a few laughs!Love,
