I mean, just look at TV and you'll see commercials for all kinds of weight-loss products. Oh, there are shakes you can drink, pills you can take and even whole meals you can have delivered to your house! And a walk down the aisles of your neighborhood supermarket will reveal an abundance of low-calorie frozen dinners ready to bring home and toss into your ovens. And I'll tell you, I can see why some of those ads can be pretty tempting. Last night, I saw one where this couple was running on the beach. They looked like "Ken & Barbie," if you know what I mean! Then the two of them stopped to talk to us about how much weight they'd lost and how they'd lost it. They claimed to have slimmed down by drinking some exclusive juice made from some exotic roots found only in Brazil! (Uh, okay.) "Ken & Barbie" looked so good that I can see why someone watching at home would figure, "Well to look like them, I'm ordering some of that juice for myself right now!I saw another ad featuring this couple climbing a mountain. You see them reach the mountain top as they triumphantly throw their hands into the air, like they're Rocky Balboa, or something. Then they gaze adoringly into the camera and tell us, "If you want to lose weight and climb the mountains in your life, take these diet pills and they will help you so it. We guarantee, you'll see the difference...fast!" I was in the drugstore the other day and I was really shocked to see how many diet pills are available now without prescription. What kind of message are all of these products sending us, huh? Some people are desperately trying to lose weight, especially now in the summer time. I have to tell you, I've been on a lot of different kinds of shakes and pills myself, to try and lose weight in my distant past. But let me tell you, none of them work on the area of your body that needs the most help. And that would be your mind! After all, your mind is where weight-loss begins. It doesn't begin with a salad or with jumping jacks. Losing weight begins with the kinds of mental thoughts that prepare you to get ready to shed those extra pounds. You have to sit down and think about why it's important for you to lose the weight. You have to think about all the activities you can no longer do because of the weight you've gained. You have to think about how sad your weight makes you. And once you've worked through all of that, you've got to create and stick with a livable weight-loss program. And please remember, that program should not include diet pills and some crazy "weight-loss" shakes! Your weight-loss program should me made up of healthy breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. It should be made up a dedicated workout routine for your body like walking, swimming, stretching and, of course, aerobics!So if you've been trying to lose weight in a silly way, please, stop it!
