Guest guest
WHY I'M NOT EXERCISING LIST-PART 1 Saturday, 09 August 2008 Well, here we are, almost in the middle of August and do you know what? August is a month where a lot of people choose they are simply going to take the whole month off from working out. Isn't that ridiculous? I mean, like our bodies can do without a whole month of exercise! Uh-uh, we can't have that. So I've done some thinking. And even with my very busy schedule, I've taken the time to come up with my Top Ten List of reasons people use for not exercising during these hot Dog Days of summer.10)I can't exercise in this weather. "It's just too hot and I'm like a little sugar cube. I'm afraid I'll melt in this heat!" Oh, I've heard this one so many times! And when people talk about this one, there's usually a little whine in their voices. Now common sense dictates that you shouldn't walk when the day's sun is especially hot and bright in the summer sky. Why? Well, because you'd just be begging for things like sun stroke, heart attacks or dehydration. (Just go rent Lawrence of Arabia!) You should take your walks in the morning or at dusk and maybe with some friends. If you're working out in-side, then you should keep your place cool for when you slip in your exercise DVD for a workout. And for those of you who go to the gym for your workouts, you should go for morning or evening sessions. And of course, there's walking in the mall, where it always seems to feel like winter inside! 9)I just don't have the energy. Where does energy come from? Well, it comes from a positive state of mind combined with healthy eating and a good night's sleep. There is energy always burning inside you. You just have to pull it out. And what you also have to know is that when you start to exercise, it actually increases the amount of energy that you have. And you'll notice the difference in just a few minutes when you get that " Poppins effect!"8)My body hurts a lot. I'm sorry your body hurts and I have to tell you, sometimes, my body hurts, too. But I can guarantee you that there is some form of exercise you can still do. Whether you do it from a standing or a sitting position, you can get that body of yours moving. My philosophy has always been...Move what you can move with your body! Do that and, I promise, if you really begin to move your hurting body more, then your hurting body will hurt you less! (Oh, I'm just full of formulas today, aren't I?) 7)I have no support. Well, that's not true! For starters, you have my support. Hey, I've always shaken my pompoms for you, haven't I? And if you're a Clubhouse member, I know there's lots of support for you there, too. I'll also bet there are others in your life who support you in their own way. And what you must remember is that the most important person to count on for support is the support you get from yourself...self-support! And every time you support yourself, your support for yourself will only build. (Hey, there's another formula for you!) 6)I have no time. Now isn't that a fine one? No time...for yourself. I don't believe it. You've got to rearrange your schedule and add in some real "me" time. Like I told you, you if you make time for your body, then your body will make time for you. So, how many of these excuses have you used in the past not to exercise? I want you to come back tomorrow and read the last of the list, the TOP FIVE reasons people use not to exercise, okay?Love,
