I was up 3 lbs last week (well, that was for a 2-week period) and while it was mostly "deserved" - I mean, I know what I did , I was very depressed about it and my lack of true determination to change habits, etc.

I signed up for Curves last weekend, but still haven't made it over there. I think I should try for first thing tomorrow AM. In fact, I should pack my bag early today for tomorrow, so I can't use that as an excuse for not going.

Anyway, I made some small changes during the week (less candy, did the stairs a couple times, less junk food), and yesterday, I was down 2.2 lbs, nearly cancelling out that huge gain.

I know for me it is all about activity. I don't like the idea of someone telling me what to eat, or not eat. However, in the past, when I have had a regular exercise program, the food cravings etc. just dropped away. The food issue simply disappeared. It wasn't a matter of, "oh, I can't have fries because it will cancel out what I just did on my workout." I just didn't want the fries in the first place.

Interesting - we have a cookie box instead of a cookie jar (like a Tupperware container). The standard for months has been double-stuff oreos, one package a week. There are three of us in the house, and sometimes I'm all over those, and other weeks, I just forget or want something salty instead. 2 weeks ago, I bought the mint Oreos, but didn't open the package right away because there were still cookies left over in the box, so we were already slowing down. I put that package into the box about 10 days ago and probably 1/3 of the cookies are still there! So, it's not just me. If I get a cookie that we all think is "OK" but not "OMG, I love those!", then we all cut way down on how many of them we have, and I don't perceive it as a conscious decision. I probably haven't had one myself for 4-5 days. Instead of an emotional refuge, they become a small, sweet treat with a cup of tea every couple of days. You know, like normal people (grin). At WW, we talk about whether an item is points-worthy. Because I'm a big girl, I have 30 daily points. Do I want to spend 10-15% of them on something that's "just OK"?

Re Curves - , you can help me out here - I think the plan is to do 3, even 4 circuits for a full workout. Since, as a WWer said in the meeting, 90% of the workout is getting out the door, I'm going to aim for 1 or 2 circuits first time through. They have added machines to the circle since the last time I was in there, there's probably 12-13 machines instead of 8 or 9. They've had to move the aerobic stations in front of the machines to fit everything in.

In other news, my daughter and her (getting divorced - don't even get me started) boyfriend are planning to move in with one of his coworkers the end of the month. This is her first (but probably not her last) trip out of the nest. The situation has trouble written all over it - his soon-to-be exwife wrecked his credit, etc, and I don't know anything about the 3rd guy. They will both be here for dinner tonight and we're going to try to explain to them why this might not be the best plan. But the fact is, he's 21 and she will be in a couple months, and we can't force or compel her to do or not do anything. She plans to join the Coast Guard Reserves once his divorce is final, since apparently that's when his credit record will be cleared and he can rent under his own name. (I'm not so sure about that.)

On the house, excavation for garage and crawlspace is complete. Concrete formwork and foundations should start tomorrow.

I'm going to do this week's meal plan and grocery shopping now and do enough planning that I don't have to start stuff in the morning before I go to work, because if I go to Curves - OOPS, WHEN I go to Curves, I won't have time in the morning for that.

Wish me luck - the next 24 hours should be interesting.
