Guest guest
HOW BAD? Saturday, 02 August 2008 As I travel around the country, there are always people I see again I've known for a very long time. Either I've met them on a cruise or two. I've met them at Slimmons on a retreat or just from their taking a fun Disco Sweatin' class at the club with me. As much fun as it is to see each of them again, here's the distressing part. Many of the friends I run into are still at the same weight they were since I've known them three years ago, five years ago or even twenty years ago! And you know what? They always come up to me with excuses for why they have not been able to stay on the weight-loss road. ", I had a fight with one of my coworkers. She said something really nasty about how my legs looked. Her words upset me so much that I ate everything in sight for a week!""My kid and I had a really nasty argument. Oh, it was a real war of words. After it was over, I was so angry at myself for the way I screamed at my baby that I got in my car, drove to Mc's and downed two cheeseburgers and a chocolate malt!""Well, it has been such a busy and stressful time for me. I changed jobs. I moved into a new house and my daughter gave birth to my first grandson. There were just so many major things going on in my life, I turned to food to help me get through such a hectic time for myself." All of these reasons for gaining weight or not staying on program may be a little valid. But only a little valid, I'm telling you! I mean, when we get upset, many of us overeat...end of story. But honestly, how long can you use these excuses? How long do you want to be overweight and obese? How long do you want to have discomfort in your body? How long do you want to have to take all of the medications you have to take because of your weight? How long? Now on the flip side of this coin, I see people who come to see me who've lost a great deal of weight and who've kept it off. And they tell me that they're exercising, eating healthy and enjoying their new healthier bodies. So, what's the difference between these two types of people? Well, the ones who are really successful are a success because they want it...really bad. And those who aren't? Well, they just don't want it as much! But there comes a time where you have to ask yourself...How bad do I want it? How bad do I really want to lose this weight and get my body and my health in shape? You need to have that conversation with yourself...today. You need to write down the reasons you really want to lose weight. Then let those reasons become seeds for the motivation that need to grow inside you. Before I go, I'll ask again...How bad do you want it?Tomorrow, we'll talk about getting ready, all over again.Love,
