Guest guest
THE MAILBOX Sunday, 01 June 2008 Every week in my mailbox I find a beautiful card that someone sends to me. I go into the house, sit at the butcher block table in my kitchen, open the card and read it. I feel good as I read because I know the person who sent it wrote those words and was thinking of me. Their nice words always end with the same signature..."A Friend." I not only enjoy receiving cards but I really like sending them, too. There're about four card stores here in Los Angeles I shop at. Before I go card shopping, I always make a list of the kinds of cards I need to buy. I may need a few "Get Well Soon" cards, some "Happy Birthday" cards and I always buy some pretty blank cards with no message. See, a lot of times I like to write my very own personal messages inside. And I hand write those personal messages using my prettiest penmanship. After I'm done writing, I read them over to make sure every word is perfect. I then seal the envelope, stamp them and place them in my mailbox for the postal lady to take. And yes, I do have a postal lady and she is just as sweet as she can be!After the cards are picked up, I think about how long it'll take before my friend will receive it. It always puts a smile on my face thinking about them going to their own mailbox and discovering the card I've sent. I think about my card making them smile. On this first day of June, I want you to make a list of some friends and family members who could stand to receive a pretty card from you. So go there and pick out some nice cards that will touch someone else's heart.I've got to tell you something. And that is, when I feel a little down, I like to go to one of my fave card stores and just read some of the humorous cards in the store. Really, I just stand there in the card shop reading and laughing out loud. It must be fun to design cards for a living, thinking up all those clever words for them. You know, maybe I'll put out my own line of cards someday. In this world of E-mails and text messages, I think it's so nice to go to your mailbox and find a card from someone who really loves you. A couple of weeks ago, a lady wrote an E-mail and asked if I would send a card to her mother who would be celebrating her 100th birthday. Oh, I just had to! How fabulous for her mother and for that lady to be so blessed having her Mom live to be 100! I looked and looked for just the right card and I found it! This card had beautiful pink roses hand-painted on the outside and the inside of the card was blank. I hand wrote the words, "Happy Birthday to you...100 times!" I thought those words said it all.Which special person do you need to send a card to today?Love, http://www.richardsimmons.com/j/index.php?option=com_dailymessage & Itemid=
