My trip to the airport yesterday was really something. Because of the already sky-high and rising cost of jet fuel, airlines are changing many of their policies. They've already begun charging extra money for services we once took for granted as free.For instance, now if your checked bags weigh too much, you get charged for it! I was in line at the airport and there was this couple who evidently were not aware of the new luggage policy. They ended up having to pay an additional $65.00 for their checked bags. Gosh, 65 bucks!

But as we all know, not only do those bags often weigh a lot but sometimes the passengers weigh a lot, too. And are you ready for this? Some airlines are now considering charging extra money for people who are overweight! Now you may think that I'm making this up but, I promise, I'm not!And I'm not done. Now let's talk about in-flight food and beverages. Passengers who fly coach used to get a beverage choice like water, a soft drink or some juice. It has always been complimentary but that's about to change. Coach passengers will soon have to pay even for soft drinks, two dollars, according to one airline! Many airlines have already cut out meal service on domestic flights. In it's place, they're offering these little snack boxes filled with stuff like crackers, cheese and a couple of cookies. That'll be five bucks, by the way...ouch!My fear is that, soon, you'll have to bring your own toilet paper with you onboard. Seriously, where will it all end?

You can see there was lots of tension in the airport yesterday. But you know me! Everyone I ran into and talked to at LAX left with a smile on their faces as they headed for their final destinations.Oh, flying used to be so much fun, almost luxurious...years ago. But it really isn't so much fun anymore. I hope I live to see a different way of traveling in the future. Scientists are already talking about new ways of traveling. Hopefully they're not too far off. Imagine, you enter something that looks like a phone booth, a few buttons are pressed and in minutes, you're whisked away to another state or even another country! Hmmm, doesn't that sound interesting, easy and convenient!In my prayers tonight, I will ask the Lord to have all of those oil people here on earth drop their prices back down to earth so we can fly in style once again. And oh, I had that bite of a pastie in your honor last night!Love,
