Guest guest
TOO HEAVY TO EXERCISE Friday, 26 September 2008 Why the title of this message? Well that's what Maureen told me over the phone yesterday. She said that she weighed so much, there was no way that she could move around and exercise. After hearing those words, my big question for her was "And how much do you weigh, Maureen?" She told me, "I'm 271 pounds, and I'm telling you, there's no way I can do anything with this body of mine in the way of exercise!"And my answer to Maureen? "Yes...way!" I told her that I get thousands letters like hers all the time and it's just not true that she can't do any exercise at all. And that fact is true for all of those people who write telling me the same thing.Everyone can do some sort of exercise. And I prove that in my exercise DVD called Sit Tight. In that workout, I have people who are obese and cannot stand to do a workout. I also have people with heart problems in that DVD. There's someone in Sit Tight who is a paraplegic and still others with various levels of physical challenges. We choreographed Sit Tight to make sure everyone in it could do most of the workout. I remember when we taped it, how inspirational it was for me to watch all of them working out. Because you see, before we got started, some of the cast members were saying they just couldn't do it. But, you know what? Lo and behold...they did! Everyday, I get E-mails from people thanking me for making Sit Tight. If you're someone who doesn't think you can exercise, you should try it. There are a couple of other workouts out there that are done from a sitting position in a chair, too. You can special order them from a catalog or retail store. There's one option I gave Maureen. The other option was trying exercises she could do from a pool. Maureen told me that she wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit when I gave her that option. But then I told her the story of several ladies, all about her weight, who joined the "Y" or another health club where they taught cardio and strength-training classes in the pool.I told her about the great results these ladies got for their bodies all because of them donning those bathing suits! I told her how much fun they'd had and how much energy they felt every time they hit the water. And believe me, you can really burn some calories and tone your muscles with those pool workouts, too! There are also special pieces of exercise equipment you can find on the web that cater to people who have physical challenges. You see, as I said earlier, I believe all of us can do something, in the way of exercise. I mean, look at me. I went from doing nothing to becoming a fitness icon! LOL.All I'm saying is don't put an unnecessary roadblock between yourself and a good workout! Love,

" ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maureen needs to be smacked upside the head for saying such a thing! Even at 296 pounds almost 20 years ago I was able to do exercise! No, I couldn't run a race or jump hurdles, nor would I ever want to, but I certainly was able to do *all* of the videos I owned. Some were easier to do than others, but there was none I couldn't do at least half of. And the reason I couldn't do some movements was not because of my weight but the neck and foot injuries. Once thsoe cleared up I was able to do all the steps on every workout. >Everyone can do some sort of exercise. And I prove that in my exercise DVD called Sit Tight. And his older ones, Reach for Fitness and and the Silver Foxes. Even his regular videos can be done by almost everyone, even if they have to modify some of the steps so they don't reach too far or move so fast. And if you don't like or his videos, there are loads of others out there that a large person can do with no problems, like Oxycise, Sit and Be Fit, many of Bliss' videos, tai chi, quigong and even yoga workouts. And there's always dancing to the music with no formal steps whatsoever in your own bedroom or living room. Just keep moving. Nobody is keeping score or grading you on a performance. Guest guest
< <Maureen needs to be smacked upside the head for saying such a thing! >> Sue, I completely agree! At my highest weight of 348, I moved around the house...dancing my "special" moves to "the oldies". No formal moves, no choreographed moves...just my own...and I felt better and had more energy. I might have looked crazy and funny doing it, but I didn't care...nobody saw me but my husband. I have a video, "Chair Dancing", and it really does give you some very good upper body exercise and you even move your lower body to some degree. So, I agree with you...everyone can "move" in their own way...no excuses! My excuse was I didn't have time. That's exactly what it was though, an excuse! Now, I realize you MAKE time by prioritizing what is most important...and when you need to lose weight...exercise is very important! Thanks for listening to me and again, I agree with you 100%. --"Life is 10% what you make it and 90% how you take it." -------------- Original message from "Sue in NJ" <sue_in_nj@...>: -------------- > >Why the title of this message?
