Guest guest
3 Wednesday, 08 October 2008 It's sad to say that the eating habits of many Americans aren't really all that great. People are always telling me why they can't eat breakfast, why they skip lunch or why making time for a good, healthy dinner just doesn't seem to fit into their busy schedules. Many Americans eat only one meal a day. And many of them eat only when they think they're hungry...which, and let's be honest, could be all day. Therefore, it would be accurate to say that the majority of overweight men and women in our country do not eat three balanced, healthy meals a day. Me? I never missed a meal! During my younger days, I knew it was noon at school even before even the clock knew! And I could feel six o'clock approaching long before the dinner bell rang at home! But there are a lot of you who had unstructured meal plans when you were kids. And that's probably why you still have an unstructured meal plan today, as adults. There's a reason I ask you to eat three balanced meals a day. And its because your body needs them. Take breakfast, for instance. Breakfast really is your most important meal of the day. See, your body has been sleeping and resting all night long and the reason they call it "breakfast" is because that first meal of the morning breaks the fast your body was on while you were sleeping. (Get it?)So starting the day with a healthy breakfast is what your body likes and needs. First thing in the morning, your body needs some protein, some fruit, some dairy and maybe just a little small, precious portion of fat. Breakfast is the opportunity to really wake-up your body and fill it with the vitamins, minerals and nutrients it needs first thing in the morning. Now, let's talk about lunch. Between breakfast and lunchtime, you work very hard with your minds and bodies. See, by midday, your body has used up many of the nutrients you had at breakfast. And these nutrients have to be replaced. That's what lunch is all about. It gives your body the resurgence of energy it needs so you can continue on through your busy day at work, school or around the house. Between lunch and dinner, you burn more calories and nutrients. And you need a light dinner to once again replace the nutrients your body has used throughout the day. If you eat three balanced meals a day, your body will always be on your side. And don't forget, by drinking the eight, 8-ounce glasses of water your body needs everyday, along with those three healthy meals, your body will get even healthier. And how do you plan your meals everyday? Well, a good way to do it is by using your FoodMover. I created the FoodMover to help with your accountability when it comes to planning your three, healthy meals a day. You can check the FoodMover out in our Clubhouse Store. Now you're not going to learn planning healthy meals in just one day. It's going to take you a while. And the more you practice the three healthy meals-a-day philosophy, the better you'll get at doing it. It'll become like second-nature to you.So remember, "one" is not the magic number and, no, neither is "two." It's "3"...just like with The Three Musketeers!Love,
