Guest guest
REST FOR THE WEARY Monday, 01 September 2008 I know all of you have been working hard and I'mso happy it's Labor Day so you can take a well-earned day off. Please tell me you're taking the day off! And please tell me you left all of your work at the office and that you're really going to enjoy this holiday from work. You did? Well...good! So, what're you gonna do today? Haven't decided? Well, I've got a few suggestions for you! How's about taking a nice bubble bath? Or maybe today you can swing gently in a hammock underneath a big shade tree, sipping a glass of iced-tea and reading a good book. You could spend the day doing something fun with your kids or grandchildren. Or take a trip to Blockbuster and spend the day watching a few good movies you rented.Or...you could also spend some of today planning this brand new month. That's right, welcome to September! Can you believe it's here already? The ninth month of the year is already with us. Whew, time flies!Labor Day and the first day of the month are both today. Now I know that today, you may spend some time thinking about how hard you've been working at your job. But my question for you is this: How hard have you been working at your weight-loss? You see, I've got news for you. You may get a day off from your 9 to 5 job today but you don't get a day off from taking good care of your body and working to lose this weight. Boy, we expect so much from our bodies, don't we? We want our bodies to always be in tiptop shape and we want that even if we're not taking good care of ourselves. But you have to labor to get your body in shape and to keep it here. You have to labor for every one of those pounds you lose. Yesterday, I was reading a research study on obesity. And that study suggested you watch your calorie and fats intake and that you should exercise regularly. Huh? I mean, as I was reading it, I said to myself...", haven't you heard that one before. Those words have been coming out of your mouth for years. No, make the decades!"From the moment you wake up in the morning, you must go to work on your healthy lifestyle. You have 30 days this month to labor on your weight loss. And I want you to try your best to lose at least five pounds this month. You know what? If you would've lost five pounds a month during the first eight months of this year, you would be down 40 pounds by now! Let's do a little math here. Say you started out at 200 pounds in January. Using the above formula, if you worked hard at the weight-loss all year, why that means you'd be down to 160 pounds today! And, at that rate, it means you'd have a good chance of reaching a total weight-loss of 50 pounds by the end of this year. Boy, those numbers sure sound nice, don't they? And the people who've worked hard to reach this point have labored hard to see those lower numbers. Are you one of them? So whaddaya say? Are you willing to do the labor it will take you to lose those five pounds this month? I know you'll continue to work hard at your job. But I want you to promise yourself that you'll work and labor hard in other areas of your life, too. Work hard to stay in a positive mood. Work hard doing your workouts. And work hard making the best choices of healthy foods for your body. Is that a deal, everybody?Happy Labor Day and Happy September 1st to you all!Love,
