Guest guest
> > a - OMG!! down nearly 50 lbs in *6* months. That's amazing. GOOD FOR > YOU! It seems like it has been really slow, I mean I am still 7lbs away... hummmmm 7lbs in 2 weeks is doable, but only if I work very hard at it. > If you had to pick one thing that is working the best for you, what > would it be? Activity? Group support? Water? Better foods? I'm sending vibes > that you hit the mark by Labor Day. Thanks!! Oh gosh do I have to pick ONE thing?? I think it is a combination of things, but the biggest has been journaling what I eat. It keeps me on track better and honest about what I put in my mouth. I mean if I eat something at work I even text myself so I remember to put it down. If I were just counting in my head I *KNOW* I would forget something. After that I would have to say reading labels and making better choices. Turkey brats instead of regular brats, Turkey burgers in place of hamburgers, low cal dressings in place of my normal dressings, whole wheat-low fat tortillas instead of white flour tortillas, I am saving a lot of calories just reading labels of my different food choices. I mean who knew that those frozen hamburger patties were 370 calories for JUST the patty? A frozen turkey patty is only 160. I could eat 2 of them and still be under what one burger would be. Split your whole wheat hamburger bun between the 2 turkey burgers and use a romaine lettuce leaf as your top bun and again you have saves half the calories. I could go on but you get the picture. Exercise has been key... when I don't exercise I just don't lose *that* much weight during the week. I thank god I was able to get the gym equipment that I have and for a economically as we did! Ebay has been wonderful! It can be hard to find equipment for someone who weighs over 350lbs. I have been drinking more water in place of my diet coke. I still drink my pop don't get me wrong, I just don't drink an entire 2 liter while at work anymore. I tend to drink the Power-Aid Option which is still calorie free sweetened with some thing and flavored. I don't know that it is much better for me but I have switched to that none the less. > > On my weigh-in, I did pretty good this week, did one workout at Curves, more > walking, less crap food, less candy at work (almost none actually), more > water. That is basically what I have done, just working on small things here and there. I am not doing any one program, just kind of doing my own thing. However, we are having the mother of all heat waves in the area > (Portland, and parts of Pacific NW), we are in the middle of a 4-5 day cycle > of " century temperature " days. My fingers last night felt like little > sausages, so I expected that any weight loss would be cancelled out by water > retention. I walked out of there with a " 0 " - maintain. That is GREAT! I know a maintain sounds bad, but if you have that much water retention I am sure you have lost some weight! IF the weather cools down next week I would expect you to have a great loss! I convinced my Dr to give me " water pills " as some call them several years ago when it was hot out. It has taken me 2 years to go through my last 30 count prescription, but I can tell you what I am glad when I remember they are around when I am all bloated from the high heat and humidity! Last time I finally remembered I had gone from not wearing my wedding rings because they were too lose to them being too tight in a matter of a few days. > We also have the stress of them starting to rip on the house - we lost 4 > feet we could barely afford and all the natural light out of our bedroom as > of Wednesday, and that will be the case for the next 4 months or so. I went to your blog the other day, it looks like a lot of work!! I feel for you! It can be a TON of stress!! > > a, again, that is so amazing. I am so inspired and encouraged by your > success. > Thanks Eileen! I will try to keep up the good work! a
Guest guest
>Have you tried adding True Lemon or True Lime to your water? Not sweet, but refreshing. I'm not a big fan of lemon water. Never even liked lemonade as a kid. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
Well, I weighed this morning and I am at 299.1. I gained 3 pounds this week and I am going to blame it on TOM which showed up yesterday. A few days before TOM I had terrible cravings. I ate everything in sight. Today I started a liquid diet that I am going to do for a week to try to jump start my weight loss. I bought those Atkins Advantage shakes and they are really good. I am going to try really hard. My first goal is 20 pounds. That is what I have gained when I just quit trying. So, hopefully I will have it off by Christmas. That is what I am shooting for.
