Guest guest
CEDAR POINT RESORT Wednesday, 10 September 2008 I was in Sandusky, Ohio this past weekend. I went there to teach a big exercise class for Honda Motors America and a family day celebration they had for all of their employees. Honda rented an entire, huge amusement park for this day of family fun! I'll bet many of you Midwesterners already know that Cedar Point is one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States. It's considered the rollercoaster capitol of the country. And you can see why, there are 22 rollercoasters in the park! The oldest one, erected in 1950, is built completely out of wood. Before the park was built, a beautiful hotel was constructed on the property. It's called The Breakers and that's where I stayed while I was there. When I walked into the lobby to check-in, there were hundreds of Honda employees already in the hotel. Oh, we just laughed, howled, sang and took lots of photos together. Of course I invited them all to come join me the next morning for my big Sweatin' class!I must say that Honda did something really wonderful for all of its employees with this family day. I mean, besides just bringing everyone together for a fun time, the focus was also on the good health of all the company's employees. There was a massive Walgreen's truck at the event and when you entered the truck, you could have your blood pressure, your cholesterol or even your heart rate checked. Plus there were so many other health screenings for your body as well. In addition, there were about 60 booths at the event to educate everyone on how to be healthy and live longer. And in the middle of the booth area was a stage with a huge tent covering it. That's where I held my class.Oh, did we ever have a good time! After I made everyone sweat that morning, I signed autographs and took more photos for about three hours before heading back to the airport in Cleveland for my flight home.I must say that I was very impressed with the Honda Corporation for caring so much about the good health of its employees. I met hardworking men and women who worked in factories all day long producing the Honda collection of automobiles. And it was an added dose of fun getting to meet their spouses and children. It was an honor for me being invited to this great family celebration. So, a big HERE, HERE...to all the hard working men and women who build the cars we drive everyday!Love,
