Guest guest
LOOK! THERE IN THE DISTANCE,,, Monday, 13 October 2008 was always an adventurous child. He was taller than the other kids his age and he learned to talk earlier than most of the other kids, too. Everyday, he'd bolt out of the door of his house ready to make some new discoveries. You should have seen when he saw his first butterfly. He held his hand up and kept it very still and within just a few minutes, the butterfly landed right on his index finger. As grew up, he became more and more adventurous. This kid was simply mesmerized by the sea and loved to gaze at it, as far as his eyes could see! He built his own first little boat when he was only 16 years-old. And when he sailed it for the first time, his dream was born. He knew he'd want to sail the seven seas and become a great explorer someday. Now when was a young man, in his day, there was only one know route to China. And it was a very long route. Goods from China were very much in demand in Europe back then but it just took so long to get to the Far East and back! But had an idea! He thought he could find a shorter route to China by sailing west, instead of east, like everyone else of his day had been doing. So with that idea in his mind, approached Spain's Queen Isabella with his new idea, asking for her help finance the trip. "Oh, Your Majesty," he said to her, "Just think how much money, prestige and power it will bring Spain if I can cut back on that sailing time to China!"Well, managed to sell the Queen on his idea. So she took much of her gold, diamonds and pearls and financed the trip. (They didn't have ATMs back then.) With that financial backing from the Queen, loaded his three ships with food and a crew for the long sea voyage that lie ahead. He named his ships the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa . Queen Isabella was a little miffed that none of the ships were named after her. (But she got over it.) After many months of sailing, was looking through his telescope one brilliant sunny afternoon and he saw something off in the distance. It was land! He then had all of his ships immediately set sail for the slice of land he'd spotted way off in the distance. Turns out, had discovered a part of the world no European had ever set foot on before. What a great discovery he'd made! Today is Columbus Day. Today is the day we set aside to honor Chris's guts, his determination and strength. And today, I want you to think about 's story and his discovery. I want you to see if you can dig deep down inside yourself today and discover your own new world. That's right, today I want you to think about discovering the new you, your new world. Your three ships will be The Eating Right, The Daily Workout and The Positive Attitude! And if you stay on course with your three ships, just like , one day you'll look through your telescope, (or into your mirror), and make your own discovery...the new you! never found that new route to China, God bless him, but what he did discover is the reason we're all here today in the good old USA!Love,
