Guest guest
This week was the start of WW's new Momentum plan. We got new info, and it feels like a fresh start. There is a Pocket Guide with most of the daily info you need. I have SO MUCH old material and who wants to carry around 5 lbs of reference material to look up everything? I had a food hangover this morning, (birthday lunch - buffalo wings and fries, then baby shower yesterday, decided not to do the memorial service). I was going to use my "no weigh-in pass" for the first time ever. But with the new plan, it was a chance to rethink things. Turns out I lost 0.5 lbs. I think the only reason it was a loss was that I had a large gain the week before - 2.4 lbs. I don't drink alcohol hardly at all, but I felt toxic and achy this morning - the food version of too much alcohol. My sister and I went to our typical "after WW" breakfast and instead of splurging as I usually do ("hey, it's 7 days til weigh-in"), I got a veggie omelet with egg substitute, salsa and low-fat mozzarella, plus multigrain pancakes with 1/2 the butter I normally do, and a small dish of fresh fruit. No hashbrowns or potatoes - that is very unusual. So, now I'm off to do groceries. I'd like to put it off til tomorrow til I can thoroughly read all the information, but we are expecting snow, so I better go while I still can. What if I get two weeks of "head" work in before everyone else starts with the New Year's Resolution dance? Starting again, just before Christmas. It's so crazy, it just might work!! Guest guest
What is the Momentum plan?? I am following Weight Watchers points system. I went to WW at the first of the year and then decided to go to the gym and couldn’t afford to do both so I quit going to the meetings. I stopped following the points system but started again about a month ago. I have done well although this week hasn’t been that great. Guest guest
They generally introduce program enhancements at the end of the calendar year, because of course they get a lot of people joining with New Year's resolutions. You can read about it on their website. http://www.weightwatchers.com I'm still reading materials, but it simplifies the existing program a bit. They still have the point system. I don't want to elaborate because this is a noncommercial / no advertising group, but you could check the website. Elaborate all you want - it's the only way if members can find out if a certain plan is " right " for them or not without spending any money. Guest guest
Really? Cool! I used to be on a knitting list and it got to the point where if you answered someone's question with, " I found a cool sweater pattern that sounds what you're looking for. Go to http:---------------- " it would get bumped back as advertising. Got into a snit with a listmom over that - long story, takes alcohol and yarn to tell it correctly (grin). I have always found the WW program to be very useful, and adaptive to new research. The current program is NOTHING like the WW my mother joined 30 years ago, where you had to eat fish 3 times a week and liver once, etc. There's also much more emphasis on the emotional and behavioral aspects of weight loss. My doctor has repeatedly recommended it as the best program out there. The reason I haven't lost on WW is simple. While going to the meeting is pretty important for the information and peer support, you can't lose weight if going to the meeting is the ONLY thing you do (grin). I'm recommitted to doing this, and although it's a psychological (re)start only, you gotta start somewhere. Longest journey, single step, whatever. The online program " etools " is cheaper than meetings, I think it's about $10/month. If you buy a Monthly Pass (about $40/month), the etools program is included; it's part of their website. Thanks, Sue, for letting me spout. Although I haven't yet truly engaged myself in the program, I understand its value. Sooooo.... how has the first 10 days or so gone on the "new" plan? Did you guys get dumped on as much as WA did in OR, Eileen? It's so hard for me to stay tuned to the outside world when our news coverage is 24/7 revolving around what's going on in our own city/state.... The other day *most* if not all flights in/out of Spokane were canceled. Scary stuff. I'm supposed to fly out 1/8 to go to CA My "problem" right now is that all of this shoveling and being rendered to the public bus system (don't want to drive if I don't have to) are of course burning off more calories, so I "think" I need to eat more. Then you add to it stress, boredom, and other emotions to feed. It hasn't been bad, but it's not pretty. I have at least been "logging" what I am eating. Not getting on the scale this week, that's for sure!! Hugs- One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Mail. Try it now.
