Guest guest
Happy Thanksgiving: welcome snowflakes! Oh.My.Gosh! I'm sorry, but after this past winter, I am NOT thankful for the snowflakes. Not yet, anyway. I know I will be when they start talking snow-pack and spring melt-off. I'll try to keep my whining and sniveling to a minimum this winter for your sakes, but still!! It's November! I know, I know. It's possible to have snow as early as Halloween here, so this is lucky to pull off another 4 weeks without the white stuff, but waaaahhhhhhhhh!! Dear God, please protect me this winter!! For those of you that don't remember, or weren't a part of the group before, last winter we got around 90" of the wonderful stuff. One week, we got around 2 feet that basically shut the city down until they could get around to everything with the plows. The kids didn't even have to make up the snow days because the governor declared a state emergency. And it messed up my elbow from all the shoveling. Note to self: find shovel tomorrow and go to Walmart for de-icer stuff!! 2nd note to self: check mom's stock of de-icer first! in WA310/250.8/170 I've lost 66 inches from my body!More of Him, less of me"There are only two options regarding commitment. We've been lucky - other parts of NJ have gotten a few inches already. > Note to self: find shovel tomorrow and go to Walmart for de-icer stuff!! > 2nd note to self: check mom's stock of de-icer first! One thing about being a renter - the landlord does all the sidewalk cleaning. And the beauty of where we live in this city is that we *can* go weeks without having to clean off either car, that we can walk to just about any place we need to go to, including our doctors and grocery stores, and if we need to go elsewhere, like Ed to work, light rail and subways run in all kinds of weather. Ed's aunt keeps bugging us to move in with her, and if we must we must, but we keep telling her we *can't* because *nothing* is within walking distance, and the only public transportation to Ed's job is a bus that goes through once an hour, and the first run is 2 hours after he's supposed to be in work. Forget trying to take it in bad weather, they just stop running once they get about 2 hours behind schedule. I can just see him stranded in Newark, NJ overnight (or a few days!) while a blizzard rages outside. Sue in NJ
