Guest guest
, I think you got to the right site for answers, Read previous posts and ask more questions and also keep researching the web. Good luck and try to stay out of the moldy house. You can see that I found help by being persistant and doing research on medical conditions and now feel a lot better, the support on this site is great! I called my local Government Health dept to see if I can get help on what is causing me to be sick and low and behold they are going to help me. God help my work place that made me sick, the government is after them now LOL.
Guest guest
> > > Hi all, , you will find lots of info on this site. We have all been treated very poorly, and the most I can tell you is you must be very careful cuz you could also get an illness where just everyday products such as fragrance will hurt you. Many people that have been harmed by mold get a chemcial type asthma. It is called many things reactive airways disease, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, chemical induced asthma. Watch out for those bomb things and of course the mold. I have been doing this for 7 years and many on this site have been trying to get our government to listen also; but, I think things will be changing soon. I think things are getting to the point where they may have to admit the dangers of mold. My husband also tried to gut a house and he got seizures and blood clot by the heart. Just be careful. I don't want to discourage you but you have to protect yourself. This illness sucks.
Guest guest
I've heard about places that were taken right down to the studs, floor sheathing completely removed, and it still did no good. Some places it's literally " Burn and Bulldoze " down at least six inches deep. Sounds like this might be one of these instances. -
Guest guest
, Sorry to tell you this but HUD Homes are not the only homes to look out for this is why they are rented to HUD people many of them. E [] New to the board, Any sugestions on how to kill the mold? Hi all, Here is My Story, I bought a HUD home in 1993. It was an Abandon house but I thought I could fix it up and it was cheep. After I moved in the Neighbor said no one lived there for 2 years and the people moved out suddenly, after a major water leak. They collected thousands from Insurance. I knew about lead Paint and Asbestos but never heard of Toxic Mold. I had many health problems I related to a job injury and the treatment they gave me. I had frequent ear Infections and asked my doctor if it could be from the mold in my house. He just said " could be " and did not say anything else. I did not worry much about the mold as it was easy to clean, it just wiped up and when I seen it, I cleaned it. We recycle trash in our City and I would save the empty plastic orange juice bottles . I noticed after a few days black mold was growing in the bottles. I was getting bad head aches and my Heart would beat in my ears in the middle of the night, keeping me up. Several trips to the doctor and my heart was ok, but they said nothing about the mold. After seeing a TV show of a girl with cancer from a mold Infested house and the house had less mold them my house I started looking up mold on the net and found mold help. I got a Mold test Kit from Lowes Home Center and mold grew in the kit. I moved out in January 2005 and been living in a trailer since. I told my doctor about the mold making me sick and He said " you don't have mold " . I finally found a mold Doctor but even he seems like a skeptic that mold can cause me all these problems I have rash on my legs looks like Psoriasis, heart palpitations ear infections, dry skin, head aches. Most of the symptoms left after I moved out and they return when I go back to clean up etc. I had all the walls torn out, all the floors carpet and Ceiling removed. The more I tore out the more mold I found. The roof was wood shake, covered with tar shingles, witch is illegal, because it cases mold and does not vent. Under the ceiling tiles was bathroom paneling and it was all moldy. Under the floor was particle board and it was all black mold. Under the basement tile was mold. The basement tiles had to be removed. Everything in my house is striped down to the studs. The whole roof was torn off to the studs and re sheeted. Something is still living in that house. I have placed gas chlorine bombs in the house to kill what ever is in it. I Zapped it with $200 UV lights. Still, when I go in it, even for a few, minuets my lungs start producing Philem. and I spit up. I do not even know if its mold in the house, only some kind of Bio hazard. The Philem. I spit up taste like dog poo. It smells like it too. I tried to make a claim with insurance and they denied the claim. The city will not help me even thought I paid 5 City Inspectors to Inspect the house before I moved in. I am on a fixed income and Don't know what to do. I called Lawyers and they said its a hard claim to prove and the stature of limitations is up as I bought the house in 1993. I still think I should be able to sue Doctors and city inspectors, If I can only Find a Lawyer. The only thing I can think of doing is praying to God for a Hurricane, to make State Farm pay me for my house. The Law of Karma says there is no free rides Insurance companies, they will pay somebody. I payed them for 15 years, then when I have a Claim, they treat me like Dirt. Anyway, My house is gutted down to the studs, and it's still has mold in the cracks of the studs and floors, I been bombing it with bleach, {a bleach fogger} but something is in the air, it might be stachy, Hoe do I clean the studs? What Chemicals and paint? Warren MI FAIR USE NOTICE:
Guest guest
Hi , I can't answer your questions about the problems you are having with your house I hope some of the people on the board can do that. I can tell you that you should not give up on finding a lawyer to help you with your problems. My first lawyer kept telling me to get more info and then he would take the case...well that went on for a couple of months. (I got the message) I wish I had a dollar for every lawyer I called and said " these cases are hard to prove. " My second lawyer turned out to be a real ambulance chaser and I found out from another lawyer he had been publicly reprimanded for previous cases he had worked on. He also totally ruined my chances of getting the full amount of money I could have received when the landlord offered to pay me to move out. It turns out I could have had triple damages, lawyers fees, and moving expenses but that is water under the bridge. I finally found a young lawyer who has something to prove. He is up front no Abra kadabra and explains everything he is doing for me. He is working on a contingency bases. He's had some early successes since he graduated from law school. So don't give up... keep calling. I called out of state mold lawyers and asked them if they could recommend a lawyer in my area. (Some were able to do that.) It sounds to me you have a case especially against the city inspectors or HUD. You may be right as far as the statute of limitations...I would check that out on your own on the net I wouldn't take any ones word for it. Hope you feel better and I wish you luck. Guest guest
Just a thought: The statute of limitations may come into play from the date you made the discovery that the house had a mold problem or the mold was making you sick, as opposed to the date you purchased the home. Many moldies seem to have this problem because it takes a while before they start getting sick, and then a while longer before they can connect the dots, so to speak.
