Guest guest
I do not know many on this list so maybe a lot more people have successfully adopted a mold avoidance program which worked. I have slept in only motels since last week and I would think that almost every room of the cheaper, older motels are moldy. I can look back and now I know why I use to wake up in motel rooms feeling so bad. I stayed at an expensive one and that room was alright. If you wait until you become as ill as I have (I did not know I had mold), then it is so hard as everywhere I go I smell something! My daughter's house is moldy and I told her but she said she cannot afford to move and no guarantee if she moves. Mexico builds mold-resistant houses, or that is my opinion. No insulation, very few have drapes, no carpets. Maybe we need to think about how to build a mold-proof house. Maybe put the water pipes on the outside of the walls so we can see them. In the Big Bend area of Texas, this company is building steel houses. I never asked why. Since I am new to mold, I have very limited knowledge, well except reading post about it on my CFS list for years...lol, but surely people have ideas on how to build a mold-proof residence. I always felt good in the steel hangars out at the airport where I stored my little airplane - so I figure that this is the safest and best way to go. Just before my Whitney trip, I wanted to pick up a bunch of firewood and there's a new house going up right across the street. So I moseyed on over and after getting permission, scavenged their scrap pile. Saw a lot of moldy wood, but I don't bother worrying about it if it doesn't bother me. But some of it was a little darker than I like to see. Still, Aspergillus usually doesn't bug me and I didn't think Stachy would grow on wood unless it was pretty sloppy wet or decomposing. Much to my surprise, the blackest mold on that wood was a real slammer and I had to get rid of it. I feel sorry for whoever winds up living in that house - it's preloaded with nastiness. I can scarcely tell you how awesome it is to have control back and not have to act so crazy about mold. I know that when you first bail, it seems like every speck of mold is a terrifying spectre of doom - but after practicing avoidance for years, my response is down to a level in which I don't have to act like such a mold maniac. Not like normal - but not frenzied and frantic. A metal domicile was the option I chose. -
