A local man says he was hospitalized because of mold in his home.

Vogel lives in Wintersville. He said the mold destroyed his

belongings, even his bed sheets have mold on them. Doctors have told

him the mold was making him sick. Vogel was hospitalized for an

upper respiratory infection. He says he did not realize mold could

have such harmful effects until he started getting sick, " I did not

know the severity of it until I got sick. The day I got out of the

hospital I came back and slept and within two days I was ready to go

back into the hospital. " Ron Stillwagon with the American Red Cross

went to look at the house Saturday and described the problem that

was created when water got into the home during the heavy

rains, " Visible mold you could smell it, you could see it and it

would need addressed and cleaned before someone would be able to

stay there for any length of time. Fortunately we haven't had as

much as some other areas but the mold is definitely a problem once

that water is within the walls and once that water is in the

property. " is staying with friends.
