Guest guest
Laurie, I'd suggest you visit your doctor immediately..... Hair growth is controlled by a number of factors... Many drugs can cause quick hair loss like when a teenager first takes birth control pills... the hair can fall out in clumps.. There are other drugs that can cause hair to fall out... Also radical diet changes can cause hair to fall out like a severely restricted fat intake. A dear friend, a beautician of 50 years, suggests to her clients when hair suddenly starts falling out in clumps that one teaspoon of olive oil a day be taken with a meal. That more often than not solves the problem and the client continues with whatever their lifestyle is. BUT the bottom line is: Severe hair loss is an indication of a critical change in body chemistry and deserves immediate medical attention. Severe and sudden hair loss is seldom a mystery to a good doctor. Hope that helps... Ken =================== [] Severe hair loss ... What's the cause? Does anyone know the reason for hair-loss during / after living with Stachy? I thought my hair would stop falling out after we'd left the apartment, but it has not. If anything, it's worsened. I can honestly say that I've lost 3/4 of my hair ... and I used to have VERY thick, long hair. Will it stop falling out? WHY does hair fall out? Is there anything I can do so I am not bald within the next few weeks? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I know it's just hair ... but I can't help but think there is a more severe underlying cause of the hair-loss, which is what I am more concerned about. My daughters have also lost a great deal of hair, though theirs seems to have stopped since leaving the apartment. I'm currently looking for a local doctor to examine / treat us ... in the Las Vegas area (if anyone has suggestions ... ) Thank you, again ... to all of you ... for all of your help through this mess. I think we'd still be in that apartment, had I not found this group. Guest guest
Laurie, That is a good question. Thanx for asking it. I have often wondered about that myself. I used to also have very thick hair. I can say that hair is every where. Bathroom floor covered, brush loaded, tub after washing my hair tons of it. It's like I can't move without finding hairs on everything. [] Severe hair loss ... What's the cause? > Does anyone know the reason for hair-loss during / after living with > Stachy? Guest guest
hmmmm, very interesting. Thank you Ken. My doctor told me it was hormones after having kids. But, funny it didn't start like this until our exposure. I have not lost as much as Laurie, but it is just interesting to find out what others are going thru. Things we don't really think about, because they have become a way of life for us, we have just gotten used to it. We have so many other symptoms and illnesses to worry about, that the not so important ones get pushed under the rug, until someone else mentions it. [] Severe hair loss ... What's the cause? Guest guest
I remember my hair was falling out at a rate that convinced me I was gonna be bald soon! Plugged up the shower drain every time, and I wondered " How many more times of losing this volume of hair before it's all gone? " You could pretty much guesstimate! I looked at the follicles under a microscope and saw easily visible fungal involvement. When I attempted to bring this to the attention of doctors, I was amazed to find out that many of them did not even have a microscope in their office. I brought mine in but they refused to look, saying it would tell them nothing that their tests could not reveal. And people wonder why I say such " terrible things " about doctors! - (Hair is all back now - but it took many months)
Guest guest
... Did you do anything in particular to stop the hair-loss and stimulate growth? Kengib mentioned to drink a cap of Olive Oil once per day (Thanks, Ken) ... I'm just wondering. erikmoldwarrior <erikmoldwarrior@...> wrote: I remember my hair was falling out at a rate that convinced me I was gonna be bald soon! Guest guest
my own hair loss was noticible but minor- has gotten thicker in the past year- all I can think of is that you need to de-tox and check for cross contamination. > Does anyone know the reason for hair-loss during / after living with Stachy? It's been 2 weeks and my symptoms are still with me ... only maybe a little bit better. I'm beginning to wonder if they, too, have mold growth. That's the problem all right! Moving from one exposure to another is NOT mold avoidance - and my problems didn't start to correct until I got myself into a place where the reaction was GONE. Very difficult. I cross contaminated my parents spare bedroom before I figured out that what was once pristine was now killing me and the source was my movements. Basically it came down to a matter of consistent decontamination after exposures to control symptoms first and cross contamination secondarily. I got so frustrated that I was sleeping directly on bare linoleum that I scrubbed before laying down - and this was in a place that was pretty darn " safe " . When I finally found a good place and showered directly before moving around the interior (and bagging my clothes), then I really started to improve in a huge way. I've had a number of incredibly strange coincidences during the CFS epidemic. I was Dr Cheney's neighbor at the very beginning, and the " safe place " where I took refuge was right next door to Dr s office where I had just abandoned the ampligen program to pursue mycotoxin avoidance as a last resort. I must be the luckiest CFSer in the world to have figured this out. At least, I haven't seen anybody else from the ampligen program recover anything like this. As I've mentioned before, if anyone wants to experience the " Killer Plume " in Incline Village, I can take you right there to " feel the joy " . -
Guest guest
As stupid as this sounds. I would like to visit that place. Have to make sure I don't have anything planned for the three days after that though. Angelika Nor Cal [] Re: Severe hair loss ... What's the cause? > Laurie wrote: > > Did that ... I don't think 2 weeks is enought time to feel better. It has been 7 years for me and I still am not better and I am not in a moldy environment. I of course had several moldy places and the length of time you were exposed does determine how ill you get. Do you smell mold at your family's home. I would think if they have mold you could smell it. My nose is like a dog now and I detect everything. I can tell when someone is smoking in a car that passes me when I am walking or if they have fragrance on. Good Luck,

Wait too long and let the immune response " freewheel into high gear " and it's a bumpy ride for days. -
