Guest guest
Fall Creek's library closes due to mold Topics Newspapers September 1, 2005 Indiana http://www.topics.com/articles/8/056919-5168-088.html FISHERS -- The Fall Creek Elementary School library has been closed since Aug. 17 after the librarian found mold on books, shelving and media equipment. Principal Jerry Staley informed parents at the Hamilton Southeastern school in an e-mailed letter last week. In the letter, he said the library was shut down and made off-limits to students and staff. Indiana State Department of Health told school officials that people with mold allergies could be affected if they are in the area, he said. District crews have been working to clean the affected areas. Dehumidifiers and air scrubbers have also been put to use. Heating and cooling repairmen worked on pipes that showed signs of condensation. The library will be reopened when it passes mold-count tests. Random tests were also conducted throughout the school, and the results were good. Staley in the letter said high humidity this summer may have caused the problem. The air- conditioning system was used throughout the summer, and the humidity was higher on the library's side of the building because doors in the area were left open for summer campers.
