Guest guest
I have some questions and would appreciate it if someone would be kind enough to give me answers. (1) Do all Molds produce Toxins? (2) If all Molds do not produce Toxins, can those molds that don't, still make you sick? (3) When talking about Molds that do produce Toxins, I want to see if I understand this correctly. Mold produces Toxins, and it's the Toxins that get into your system and cause damage to your organs or your immune system. Is that correct? If that is not correct, please explain. (4) When they put a pulse-ox meter on your finger and tell you that you are fine, even though you are having trouble breathing, what is going on? (5) Would there be a difference in what a pulse-ox meter shows, and what an Arterial Blood Gas Test would show, when it comes to the amount of oxygen in your blood? Thanks for your patience, and hopefully, for your answers. Barb E. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I will tell you what I have gathered from my research. Not all molds produce mycotoxins; The main ones are Stachybotrys, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium. Others include Chaetonium, Trichoderma, and Acremonium. I am pretty sure the mycotoxin is only carried in the spores. Even the toxic ones don't always form toxins, only under certain circumstances which is mainly indoors where they don't have competition. A lot depends upon the material upon which they are growing. About any mold can produce allergies. Many can produce hypersensitivity pneumonitis in susceptible people. Aspergillus can produce bronchopulmonay disease in allergic people. Many causes of sinusitis are now thought to be an immune response to mold which makes one more susceptible to bacterial infections. Alternaria and probably others have been implicated in causing or contributing to asthma. Many can produce actual infections in immunocompromised hosts. It is my understanding that it is the toxin in the toxic molds that do the damage. Some mycotoxins are neurotoxic and others are carcinogenic. Trichothecenes and some others can also damage the digestive system as well as many other systems. This is certainly not all inclusive, but all I can think of right now. I really don't know anything about the last 2 questions. Barbara <floridabound03200@...> wrote: I have some questions and would appreciate it if someone would be kind enough to give me answers.
