Guest guest
Bob, remember how I keep saying " If it didn't do it before, then it probably isn't doing it now UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGED! " That applies to mold too! There have been plenty of opportunities for mold to cause CFS if it could, but it just plain failed to do so in innumerable moldy situations. So I agree completely that Mold is not the " cause " of CFS by itself. Some factor is missing from the equation. In fact, one of my first questions to Dr Cheney was " Why would a virus care about mold? " and when he said that it wouldn't specifically cause an increasing reactivity to mold, I said " Then it must be a bacteria, because whatever's got ahold of me seems to care a GREAT DEAL about mold " . Without making any claims concerning the exact role of mold, I just spent the next twenty years telling people that I was seeing more and more sufferers who are " Just like me, complaining about mold " as I told the top CFS doctors - only to have my story fall upon deaf ears. I even corresponded with Congressman Bob Filner about this and STILL could get no interest although he was sympathetic. The bottom line is that my experience says that a CFSer who was " at ground zero for CFS " can spend decades trying to engage doctors interest in an emerging abnormality and have ALL of them utterly fail to evince the scientific curiosity commensurate with the situational severity of which the current mold epidemic attests. Whatever is going on, at least they could have had a twenty year head start if they had only seen what was right in front of them. This bizarreness goes far beyond the paradigm shift. It is in the peculiar UNRESPONSIVENESS of scientifically trained doctors whose minds give the impression of being otherwise functional. And in the midst of all this denial and intransigence, Dr Shoemaker heard my story just once and took the time to follow up and hear me out - just as you would expect ANY doctor to do - yet he was the only one. That's why I keep saying that " Many doctors claim to be adherents of Osler. Dr Shoemaker proves it " . -

That's why I keep saying that " Many doctors claim to be adherents of Osler. Dr Shoemaker proves it " . - , when I saw a TV special about the fishermen getting ill on the coast of land, Dr Shoemaker was the one who solved this and all of land's PhD's and MD's could not. Dr Shoemaker went to medical school paid by our government and he had to practice in a small town, I knew that he was the one out of a thousand doctors who even cared about his patients, much less cure them. However, I know many people who goes to him, just like they do with Cheney, and when I ask them if he has helped them, not really. Now he identifies certain hormones or this or that and he has associated things like Leptin or he was the first to find that our sinus problem is a staph infection, BUT he was not able to cure it! My CFS doctor in Dallas has done just as much for my CFS, until I moved into the trailer, as any of Dr Cheney or Shoemaker patients and I didn't have to fly across the USA. It is nice to have a doctor listen to your ideas and look into them but the bottom line is do you feel better! I am not ready to put Dr Shoemaker in the Hall of Medicine yet. I think we are going to have to wait until someone claims to have found the cause AND a treatment. Mold avoidance has helped me greatly and I have you to think for telling me how to do it but I think that illnesses should be cured and not just avoid something or get your symptoms treated for the rest of our lives. Has Dr Shoemaker found a cure for Stachybotrys? I want not only compassion and understanding, I want results. Bob FAIR USE NOTICE:
