Guest guest Posted June 5, 2004 Report Share Posted June 5, 2004 NACO hails Haryana on AIDS programme Chandigarh, June 3 (PTI) : The National AIDS Control Organisation has appreciated the composite approach of targeted intervention project adopted by Haryana especially along the National Highways to identify workers of dhabas, petrol pumps, liquor and pan vendors and establish their link with various health institutions like sub- centres, primary health centres and community health centres under the AIDS Control Programme. Director General of health services Dr. Dahiya who is also the Project Director Haryana AIDS Control Society said they were also impressed by the implementation of other activities of the Haryana AIDS Control Society like targeted intervention, school AIDS Education Programme, information education and communication scheme, measure being taken for transfusion of blood, services to check sexually transmitted diseases, prevention of transmission of diseases from parent to child. He said that te membersa of NACO were of the view that these cativities should serve as a role model for other sates to follow. The Harayana AIDS Control Society has also decided to organize " Capacity Building Workshop " for non governmental organizations from June 7 to 9 as part of its drive to check the spread of HIV/AIDS in an effective manner. Dr. Dahiya said that 50 percent of the Secondary schools would be covered under the school AIDS Education Programme during the current financial year.
