About 20 parents at the board meeting raved about the teachers and staff at West Orange but described the leaky 31-year-old school as " revolting. " " You walk into the school and, frankly, it smells, " West Orange volunteer Sharon Madill said. She said it has been tough just keeping kids in the chorus healthy enough to perform. School officials and consultants said they are monitoring and repairing the school to address moisture problems that lead to mold. Also Tuesday night, about 40 south Orange County residents wore bright-orange T-shirts emblazoned with the message: " They have come. Will you build it? " Orlando officials warned the school district that it had not planned enough schools to keep up with growth. School Board Chairman Tim Shea chided the city and county for allowing more growth than schools could handle. Damron, Shanklin, , Henry Pierson Curtis, Pedro Ruz Gutierrez, Sherman and of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report.
