Guest guest
As I have been working on the latest developments around best practice in HIV management I came upon another site in Britain and from that site I have an idea that might be a good lead up to a best practice model for HIV care in India with the formation of an Association that will ensure latest developments are known and that practitioners are linked to one another and linked to the rest of the world via such sites as the HIV division of the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases and others. Of course it will be yet another layer upon a significant stable of HIV practitioners and NGO providing services but it does seem to be a potential National organisation that might assist in moving policy and maintaining standards and advocating for affordable medicine before too many more people die. Of course it should be adequately resourced and have a form of membership and accreditation. My feeling is that the organisation's Aims should read like the following and it should have a web site and a means of accrediting members. It should run conferences and in particular accredit HIV Practitioners and as a service to the HIV care industry provide members with the latest most up to date information by ensuring access to free membership subscriptions to international agencies offering best practice information. Aims and Objectives: A. For the relief of sickness and protection and preservation of health through the development and promotion of good practice in the treatment of HIV and HIV related illnesses and in such other charitable ways as IHIVA through its Executive Committee may from time to time decide. B. To advance public education in the subjects of HIV and the symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention of HIV related illnesses through the promotion of research and the dissemination of the useful results of such research and in such other charitable ways as IHIVA through its Executive Committee may from time to time decide. Now I wonder what others would think about this idea in India and if you want to see what the British Association looks like and the way in which it is structured go to: http://www.bhiva.org Geoff Heaviside E-mail: gheaviside@...
