Guest guest
Dear All I had observed the type of HIV/AIDS treatment and care in available in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Andhra and Tamil Nadu. Even in 1999 the doctors and hospitals committed to HIV/AIDS care in TN was far ahead of the others. Hopefully the others are catching up from my observations in 2001 and follow up literature. Dr Manoramma has well documented those who are involved and their commitment is truly laudable although they do not looks for laurel. In fact their dedication in some cases I observed lead to 'mental fatigue'. Hence it is cruicial to encourage such work instead of criticize. Further what is needed is for more doctors/paramedics/NGOs to be trained to dispel the stigma in their minds and be involved to share the burden that is being borne by a few in TN. Andhra is already emulating the model of TN in knowledge dissemination, prevention and care. It is hoped that other states too will continue to bridge the gap between need and resource provision for HIV/AIDS prevention and care. Best Ruth E-mail: r.kattumuri@...
