I want you to make the coals of your life glow brightly! Hey, this is gonna be a very tough month for staying on program...and I do mean very tough. Oh, there will be so many food temptations headed your way. November kicks off the time of year when we begin celebrating the two biggest holidays of the year. November kicks off the time of year when friends & families begin getting together celebrating the two biggest holidays of the year. And these two holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas are when we all get together, spend time with each other and eat. I mean really eat! Now I wonder, have you been staying on program since the beginning of this year? I know, you really don't like that question, do you? And that's because too many of you really don't like to answer it honestly and because the answer might be... NO, , I have not been faithful to my weight-loss program all year. The majority of Americans with weight to lose go on and off program up to hundreds of times during the 365 days of the year. (Add a couple more times for leap years!) It goes like this: You eat a healthy breakfast of fresh fruit and yogurt. After finishing your smart breakfast, you feel so good having begun your day on program that morning. I ate so well for breakfast, how much damage could a couple of glazed donuts do? But on the way to work, you pass a Krispy Kreme and say to yourself,I ate so well for breakfast, how much damage could a couple of glazed donuts do? Well, after you finish that last bite of your second donut, (while driving, no less), you feel, well...terrible! You went off program by indulging in those couple of "they won't hurt me" donuts. So you went off pogram first thing that morning. But you promised yourself that you'd have a healthy salad for lunch and...you do. So now you're back on program. But oh-oh, someone at work is celebrating a birthday and one of your coworkers has brought in this fabulous-looking birthday cake! That little voice inside your head goes off again and this time says to you, Oh, you can have just a small little piece. And after having that "small little piece," once again, you've gone off program. In your car, on the way home from work, you decide that for dinner, you'll have a baked chicken breast, some green beans and a small baked potato. So you're back on program, right? But you know what, the damage is already done. Days like the one I just described got me thinking. If you stayed on programfaithfully during these first ten months of the year, you could have easily lost 50 pounds or more by now. I wonder how much weight you've lost so far this year. I mean, if you stayed on program faithfully during the first ten months of this year, you could have easily lost 50 pounds or more by now. And WOW! That's a lot of weight! Now look everybody, today is the first day of November and there are 30 days in this month. First of all, I want you to weigh yourself today and...I mean it. Get on that scale, look at the number and record it in your journal. Then take a good look at yourself in the mirror and I mean look deep into your eyes. Now, I want you to say these words out loud to yourself... I am going to try harder this month because I do not want to gain even one more pound during the month of November. Your workouts will be more important than ever this month. Seriously, this is the month where you really need to plan your meals. If I told you how many pounds of mashed potatoes and gravy will be consumed in the U.S.A. this month, you'd probably faint! And of course, your workouts will be more important than ever this month.
