Guest guest
ON MY OWN Friday, 02 December 2011 I always make it a point of tuning in to the latest fitness equipment and weight-loss infomercials I see on TV. It's important for me to know just what the latest fad diets are claiming so I can keep you informed. Well, I saw a commercial a few nights ago that really got to me. It was for a new weight-loss pill, which I won't name but I'll bet you've seen the commercial for it, too. Oh, the claims they made were outrageous. The announcer said this new pill would actually "melt away body fat" and, of course, with that, would come an amazing weight-loss for you. (Hey, the only way to "melt away" body fat is to throw your body into a frying pan!) "I've tried to lose weight in the past and you know you just can't do it on your own." But it wasn't the products claim, (which was ridiculous enough), that made my blood boil. It was the words of one of the people praising the pill's effectiveness in a testimonial. She said, "I've tried to lose weight in the past and you know you just can't do it on your own. That's why I take these pills!" Oh, can you believe it? Well, I didn't believe her, not even for a second. Look, throughout my career, I've met so many people who've lost up to hundreds of pounds...on their own! Yes, these people who've successfully lost weight may have been fortunate enough to have had others cheering them on. I always feature one of their inspiring success stories in my Clubhouse. In fact, everyday I receive letters and e-mails from people sharing their weight loss successes with me. They tell me how my FoodMover, videos and DVDs played a roll in them reaching their goals. And boy, I have to tell you, hearing about their success makes me feel on top of the world. But I always remind them of the following fact: Even though I provided them with the tools and motivation they needed to lose weight, the bottom line is that it was them who did the work it took to reach their goals. They were the ones who worked hard to conquer their food addictions. They were the ones who worked hard to conquer their food addictions. They were the ones who made exercise a daily part of their lives. They were the ones who kept a positive I can do it attitude locked in their minds. Hey, looks like in spite of the help they got from me, or from any other source for that matter, they were the ones who achieved their goals and yes, on their own. So for the lady in that commercial who claimed "you can't lose weight on your own", I sure would like for her to talk to some of the friends I've made over the years. I'm talking about the amazing people who've proven to themselves, once and for all, that they had the power to change their lives for the better, by finally doing the work it took to lose the excess weight. And yes, they got lots of motivation from me to win their weight-loss fights. But it doesn't change the fact that they were able to lose the weight...ON THEIR OWN!
