Guest guest
BEAUTIFUL HAIR! Saturday, 12 March 2011 I was driving around town the other day and couldn't help but notice how many beauty shops there are here in Los Angeles. And let me tell you, they were all packed. Oh, just think of the millions and millions of dollars women spend each year to have the most beautiful hair possible. And don't you just love those commercials on television that sell hair care products? They usually start out by showing this lady all upset about her unmanageable hair. But by the end of the commercial, she's flinging her locks back & forth and her hair looks simply luxurious! And oh yeah, it's all because she used this particular brand of shampoo and conditioner. Oh, another happy ending! LOL. So what kind of shampoo do you use? If you visit any drugstore in America, and you know I'm not kidding, the hair care products take up a whole aisle all by themselves! But wait, do you really want to know where beautiful hair begins? Well, it begins in your kitchen! No, I'm not about to give you the recipe for a homemade shampoo and conditioner. In fact, I'm going to do you better than that. See, the secret for beautiful hair actually begins with your insides. That's right, if you want beautiful hair, it begins with your eating beautiful foods. A balanced food program of lean proteins, fruits & vegetables, fatty fish like salmon and lowfat dairy products all work to give you a healthier head of hair. For instance, your hair loves chicken and turkey. Poultry is filled with protein and protein is vital if you want to grow lovelier locks. Now let's talk about beans for a minute. You know, like lentils and kidney beans. These legumes also contain lots of protein and give your hair a needed boost of zinc and iron. Your hair also loves whole-wheat bread and whole-grain breakfast cereals. And when you eat these whole-grain products, they give your hair another healthy dose of zinc and iron as well as some good-for-your-hair B-vitamins. Thought carrots were good only for your vision? Well, they do help your eyesight. But, besides that, carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A which supports a healthy scalp. You know I have to keep thinking of ways to get you to eat better. Because when you eat better, that is, when you eat healthy, every part of you reaps the benefits...including your hair. I remember when I was kid, I'd go with my mother to the hairdresser during the week. She was big lover of fruits and vegetables. And in fact, for all of her life, she ate very well. And you know what? My sweet Shirley always had the thickest, healthiest head of hair I've ever seen. So take a lesson from my mom and follow my advice, too. Eat better, eat healthy...eat beautiful foods and you'll have yourself one beautiful head of hair! Love,
