What did I get you? Well, a brand new month, that's what. Welcome to September, everybody! And you know how, at the beginning of each new month, we have to do our little monthly inventory, right? Well, I want you to think about something. You've now lived eight whole months of the year, 2011. So let me ask, in those eight months, have you developed a healthier lifestyle for yourself? And think about this, too. During the first eight months of 2011, you could have lost anywhere from 40-60 pounds, depending on what your starting weight was back in January. Uh, you do remember January, don't you? It was that really cold month right after Christmas of last year. And you know that on January 1st, everybody likes to take a good look in the mirror to give themselves either a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down. So, in which direction was your thumb pointing back in January? All during January, you thought about how you could change those aspects of your lifestyle that would help get your body into better shape. And I know that's what you really wanted, right? The other day, we talked about portion sizes. And I want to know, are you in control of your food portions so far this year or, are they in control of you? Over the past eight months, have you make exercise a regular part of your days? I'm always receiving E-mail from people telling me how many days-in-a-row they've worked out. And I've got to tell you, the people who write me with that kind of good news are the people seeing positive results with their weight-loss efforts in 2011. And tell me, overall, how has your attitude been during the past eight months? I know, we all have our emotional ups-and-downs. But have you been able to see more rainbows than dark clouds in your life this year? September is one of those months where you really have to behave yourself. That's because the next three months will be holiday months. I'm talking Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And yes, the next three months are really going to challenge you. And speaking of challenges... I like to challenge you each and every month. I've challenged you this year to lose five pounds each month. So tell me, how are you doing meeting that challenge? I never promise you're going to lose 10 or more pounds a month, like some gimmicky diets do. We talked about that last week. And you should know by now that weight-loss gimmicks just aren't my style. I've always been honest with you and tried to be a good example for you about your weight-loss. That's because I fight this battle too, just like you. Okay, I know, it's the first day of September. But today, I want you to have a January 1st attitude. Write down your resolutions for the month of September. Stay focused on them and let's let closer to our goals by the time 2012 arrives.
