Guest guest
SIX-PACK Wednesday, 25 May 2011 No, I'm not talking about a six-pack of diet sodas. I'm talking about that other six-pack. You know, the one in your abdomen. Oh yes, everyone wants to have a six-pack stomach. That's right, both men and women. When you look through a lot of today's magazines, you'll see one celebrity or model after another showing off their tummy's six-pack. They even sell these t-shirts that have a full-color illustration of a six-pack on the front, to make it look like it's yours. LOL. (Some of my shipmates on the Cruise To Lose wear them and they always make me laugh.) Did you know? There really are six muscles in your stomach, three on either side. In fact, that's where the tummy-defining phrase "six-pack" comes from. Now I have to tell you, that six-pack in your tummy just loves when you exercise. And I give this six-pack of mine the exercise it needs every morning with my 150 sit-ups. Or crunches, (as some people call them). For those sit-ups, you have to get down on the floor, laying on your back. Then, bend your knees while keeping your feet flat on the floor. Take your hands, cusp them behind your head and then, ready...crunch-up or...sit-up! Now I'm not going to tell you this is my favorite exercise. In fact, I used to hate doing sit-ups. But I am going to tell you that I love the results I get from doing them! I do my sit-ups everyday and can really see the results in my stomach. Just remember, you have to do them everyday because if you don't, then your stomach will only end up hurting whenever you do those sit-ups. Hey, make your stomach stronger by working that six-pack of yours everyday. Not only do your abs look good when you work them out faithfully but your strong six-pack also plays an important role in your posture. The stronger your abs, the better stability they provide your back and spine. This, in turn, helps you stand up straight and walk more properly. Your stomach muscles also play a role in your body's flexibility. Some of those dance movements you do when you're sweatin' require a little twist here or some bending there. Your stomach muscles will help you do those moves more effectively. And let's talk about your breathing. As your lungs take in air, your abdominal muscles help push the air back out through your nose and mouth. Remember...deep breaths! I want you to think about all this and remind yourself how important those abdominal muscles of yours are. So, are you doing your sit-ups everyday? And when was the last time you did them and how many did you do? Listen, don't go to bed tonight without getting on that floor and doing your sit-ups/crunches. Hey, keep it up and, soon...you could be the next Calvin Klein Underwear model! Love,
