Guest guest
OH, BABY! Thursday, 12 January 2012 Some of you reading today's message will be welcoming a new addition to your families this year. And as I'm sure you know, you're not the only one. Get this, in 2012, 4,000,000 babies will be born in the U.S.A. That's right, I said four million babies! Gosh, there's gonna be a whole lotta diaper changing going on this year! LOL. 35% of babies born in the United States this year will grow up to be obese adults. If you're an expectant parent or have a friend or family member expecting a baby, there's something I want you to think about. 35% of babies born in the United States this year will grow up to be obese adults. (I find that number shocking.) But as you ponder that, here's something else I want you to consider. For babies born in a country like China, only 7.6% of those babies will grow up to be obese. In other words, a baby born in the U.S. is almost five times as likely to have serious weight issues as a baby born in China. And tell me, why do you think that is? Simple. It's the way we Americans eat. From a very early age, we get hooked on sweet, salty, highly-processed and yes...fattening foods. The way our neighbors in China eat is totally different from the truly bad eating habits many Americans grow up with. For decades, I've pushed the importance of teaching our children smart and healthy eating habits early in life. For decades now, I've pushed the importance of teaching our children smart and healthy eating habits early in life. That way, we'll be healthier, we'll live longer and for our growing children, they'll learn better, too. Listen, we just aren't taking this challenge for our kids seriously enough, everybody. I mean, as a nation, how are we going to compete and excel in this world...if we're so unhealthy? That's especially true for our children! If you're a parent-to-be and/or a parent-right-now, please don't be part of the problem. Be part of the solution. The eating habits your kids will have for life are established while they're still children. That's why it's so important for you as a parent to set the right example for your children and teach them about the importance of eating right and maintaining a healthy weight. Hey, not only does their future depend on it but, like I said, so does the future of our entire nation. Hey, I want to see more of America's babies growing up to be healthy adults! Don't you?
