Guest guest
Angelika, I flew to Mexico only 5 months after leaving my school and didn't have any problems at all. I flew to London last Jan. & by then I had been out of the school for a yr. I didn't have any problems on either trip, but I have to say I was very apprehensive. I am a patient of Dr. Shoemaker's and am on a maintenance dose of CSM which I take 2 times a day. When I went to Mexico I was still taking it 4X a day and was fine. When I flew to London I was on medication 2X a day but had extra doses with me just in case I got a hit. I always ask for nonsmoking rooms and some even have rooms for environmentally sensitive people. The only problem I found in England & Mexico was lots of smokers and most places were not smoke free but I survived. I say give it a try if you can't handle it you'll learn soon enough. Are you taking any medication at all? Sue One side of me screams " no way in hell can you take this job " the other says " you can't be paranoid and live in a hermetically sealed bubble the rest of your life. The mold hits will descrease the more you stay away from the old environment " .
Guest guest
Your dream job may turn into a nightmare. No way is airplane or airport air " safe " . You are right about the unknown places you will stay and be in on your travels. I would be afraid also. I resisted living in a bubble and now I am sorry that I just did not do it earlier. Ran into some major encephopathy. The bubble is not so bad once you get used to it! Guest guest
You can do it. You need Marinkovich or someone to RX you oxygen for the flight-- which will cost about $200 extra as the airlines will provide it. This will offset the hypoxia, the bad air, etc of the travel. Take your dream job > > > > Hello all, > > > > I have just been offered my dream job. It's something I have dreamt of > > nearly all my life. Guest guest
Angelika, If you don't take this chance while you have, you may never get it again. Shoot for the stars Angel, because if you don't now you may regret it later and then you will never know what the possibilities could have been. I flew my wife to the west coast to see Dr.Marinkovich and she was on oxygen, going in both directions and she did not have any problem, a 3 1/2 flight. That's with layovers and other airports and she did better with the oxygen than she ever has. Don't let this crap steal your dreams too, it has already taken enough from us. Go get 'um girl and best of luck to you. KC > > Hello all, > > I have just been offered my dream job. It's something I have dreamt of > nearly all my life. Guest guest
Thanks everyone who responded !!! And bless you for words of encouragement (and warning !). I didn't every think of the oxygen thing, or the " hotel rooms for sensitive people " . Since I won't be going to the jungles of deep Africa, those options are certainly open to me. I shouldn't be around any dirty places. One of the destinations is Germany and Germans are quite conscience of mold illness. ( I speak fluent German and that's why the company tapped me for this job.) I would probably kick myself for the rest of my life if I did not " try " it. If it becomes too much or I am too reactive, I can always retrench to my old position. My cognative abilities are still damaged but I manage better now than I did 6 months ago. I am on medication and do have things that help with reactions (although not prevent them). If I stay on my diet and on my meds the progress is measurable. Any more feedback is so welcomed !! Keep them coming. Angelika --------------------------- Angelika, I flew to Mexico only 5 months after leaving my school and didn't have any problems at all. Guest guest
I have traveled successfully using an activated carbon filter mask made by Respro. They are an Irish company that developed them in connection with their gov't to protect people (soldiers) from aerosolized terrorist attacks. They have many styles, mine is purple! I got the regular mask and bought the carbon filter inserts. If you do decide to get one of these, be careful changing the filters, as the vents on the mask are fragile - I broke my first one, they sent a replacement vent. Some companies here have them, like allergycontrolproducts.com (I think). You could google it. I got my purple one from a place in Toronto. I didn't have access to oxygen, but that sounds like a better idea. I take my mask with me regularly, it really helps me ward off an attack when I get into a chemical laden area. Doesn't help that much with mold, though- in fact I am afraid of contaminating it, so I don't wear it when I know there is mold around- I just run like hell. Good luck with your job/ health/ etc. --- In , " Angelika \(mold list\) " <moldhelp@p...> wrote: > > Hello all, > > I have just been offered my dream job.
