>>That's me, standing at your doorstep

with a dozen red roses and a box of chocolates, just for you!

(Okay, I'm kidding about the chocolates. LOL.)

My husband

wasn't. He asked me what I wanted for Valentine's Day and I said

just give me a Kit Kat bar - nothing else. He KNOWS I'm on a

perpetual diet believe me, that one candy bar will taste like

heaven.

Tuesday evening comes around and instead of that one little KitKat

bar he hands me a package containing 2 bags of 6 bars each! He

also picked up 2 bags full of Reese's peanut butter cups for the

kid (the only candy he ever liked besides Hershey Kisses).

ACK!!

He KNOWS I'm a compulsive eater, that if something like that is in

the house I MUST eat it. I've had my son hide various foods on me

(peanut butter, mostly) so I didn't eat too much of them and

always, before the day is out, threaten him with bodily harm if he

didn't either tell me where it was or get it out and give it back

to me. To have 12 KitKat bars in the house was sheer torture!

I had my one candy bar and insisted both he and the kid also have

some. Then I had a second one. Eek! Wednesday I had 2 more and the

kid started on his PB cups. Hubby informed me that since the

KitKats are mine he refused to eat any more. Last night I ate 2

more and I told him if he doesn't eat the rest I'm tossing them in

the garbage after first stomping on the packages and opening them

up so I don't dig them out of the trash and eat them later. He

finished them up after that.

He promises next time to just buy the ONE candy bar and not a

dozen. I told him there won't be a next time because I can't trust

him to buy only one and I definitely don't trust myself to *eat*

only one if he buys more.

We've known each other since the 1960's, married since 1977 and

STILL he forgets I'm a compulsive eater and thinks he's doing me a

favor by giving me more than I ask for.

(sigh) He meant well, at least.

So how did the rest of you do? Did you have more self-control than

I did? I hope so!

I told my husband I wanted a bouquet of clementines and a half gallon of milk... He forgot both! Grrr... I made him go get them and he did bring home a tiny container of ice cream. (personal serving of Haagen Daz (spelling?) I was SOO mad at him for forgetting the groceries in the first place, I told him he could have the ice cream! NOW, as far as the candy I received from students... I took that home and my husband brought it to work. GREAT on that... NOT so great when it comes to the countless boxes of candy people brought into the lounge! I went on my Wii after not going on it for 11 days... (Conferences, sickness, and STRESS kept me from it...) I had gained 2.4 pounds. (Not as bad as I had thought it would be, because on

conference nights, the parents at our school provide UNBELIEVABLY wonderful meals with all the sweets!) All that good food AND stress NOT a good combination! apmleehere@... From: Sue in NJ <sue_in_nj@...> 100-plus Sent: Friday, February 17, 2012 3:48 AM Subject: Re: motd Valentine's Day 2012
