Guest guest
AND NOW, THE CONTINUING STORY OF... Monday, 12 December 2011 Days of Our Lives? All My Children? Or, of course, my personal favorite, General Hospital! Ahhh, yes. Today's message is all about soap operas. You've probably noticed, there're not nearly as many soaps on TV today as there were years ago. Back in 1979, daytime TV was filled with soap operas and that was the year I began appearing on General Hospital. Many of you may remember that I played myself on the show. While I was on GH, back then, there was a company that scheduled shopping mall appearances for many of the day's soap opera stars. When I was approached about making the mall appearances, I was really excited about the opportunity and eagerly said yes! It just sound like so much fun. And boy, was it ever! I played nearly 300 shopping malls and did my fans fromGeneral Hospital ever show up to see me. Every weekend, I'd pack my bags and head off for another shopping mall appearance. I did shows from Eugene, Oregon to Orlando, Florida to, it seems, every city in between. I played nearly 300 shopping malls and did my fans from General Hospital ever show up to see me. In fact, I still receive e-mails from people reminding me of my old GH/shopping mall days! But okay, today I'm talking about soap operas for a reason. See, one of the jokes people used to make about the soaps is that you could miss watching a whole month of episodes, come back and really not have missed a thing! LOL. But the plot lines on those soaps did move so-o-o-o slowly. But let me ask you a question. As 2011 winds down, what's the plot line of the soap opera that some of your weight-loss efforts have become, huh? Do you weigh about the same here at the end of 2011 as you did at the end of 2010? You do? Oh, my, well...that just won't do! It's time to end that plot in the story and get serious about reaching your weight-loss goals. I mean it! Come on everybody, it's not too early to start thinking about your New Years' resolutions. Hey, 2012 will begin less than three weeks from today, after all! You are the producer of the "soap opera" that is your life. And I say it's time to introduce a brand new character to your soap. The producer of General Hospital was a good friend of mine and, believe me, she knew when it was time to change a plot line. (Hey, why do you think that show has lasted for so many years?) But here's the bottom line, you are the producer of the "soap opera" that is your life. And I say it's time to introduce a brand new character to your soap. And...I'm talking about a brand new you! Seriously, I want you to start today making a list of the things you'll do differently in 2011 to make sure the soap that is your life will run for many, many more years! And oh yeah, while you're at it, I want you all to write General Hospital and tell them you want me back on the show. That's right, bombard the show with e-mails and tell them you want me back. And if I get a call from GH asking me to come back on, after that phone call, I promise, you'll all be the first to know! Love,
