Guest guest
ANXIOUS? Saturday, 17 December 2011 Some people call it stress, others call it anxiety but, no matter what you call it, the end result is the same. Over time, too much anxiety or stress can do harmful things to your body. Anxiety is your body's natural reaction to anything it perceives as a threat. Now I want you to understand something about anxiety. It's your body's natural reaction to anything perceived as a threat. And that leads me to something else. A lot of us feel anxiety about our weight. But you know what? The anxiety you have over your weight can become a positive thing if you'll only turn it into action. That is, by doing the right things it'll take to help you lose that weight. Now, like I told you earlier, being constantly anxious about things can do damage to your body and good health. Let me give you a few examples of how. Your heart. Those tress hormones cause your heart to beat faster which can lead to your having high blood pressure. Your digestion. Stress actually slows your body's digestion which can lead to problems like heartburn, bloating and even diarrhea. When you're constantly anxious, your body makes fighting germs less of a priority. Your immune system. When you're constantly anxious, your body makes fighting germs less of a priority. That weakens your immune system, increasing your chances of getting ill. Your metabolism. Stress plays with your body's hormones, not only making you to eat more but it also leads to your body burning calories less efficiently. This one-two punch can lead to obesity or make it worse if you're already overweight. Now I'll be honest with you. I sometimes suffer from anxiety, myself. I don't talk about it much but hey, let's face it, I'm no different from any of you. So, what steps do I take to relieve my anxiety? Well, the first thing I do is find a calming place in my home where I can just sit and relax. I take a few deep breaths and make sure I have an ice-cold glass of water to drink at my side. I also put on some soothing music and, before you know it, I've dozed off in a very relaxing sleep. When you find yourself anxious or stressed about something, you really need to relax, too. Just like I do. When you relax, you're able to think clearer and focus on the things you need to do to improve your situation. Working out really helps relieve the stress. And oh yes, when you're anxious and stressed out, there's another way to calm yourself down. What is it? Exercise! That's right, working out really helps relieve the stress. So, are you feeling anxious these days? Don't! Take my advice, follow my tips and you won't sweat it so much. In fact, the only time I want you "sweatin' it" is when you're doing a fabulous workout with that anxiety & stress-free body of yours!
